This model has Gotoh vintage style tuners with small indented buttons. The screws are centered at the top of each tuner, and there are seven screws in all (the screws appear to be between each tuner (tuners are flush) rather than actually at the top. I am wondering if there is a set/brand of locking tuners that can be swapped out for the stock ones?

Yes that looks exactly like the stock ones. I see that you have a CV 50's Stratvalso. Do you have these installed? If so, were they drop-in? How do you like them? Thanks very much. Hopefully I can find them on eBay U.S.

No mine are the stock tuners these should drop in, but don't quote me on it, the screw holes might be different. Why are you changing, the originals work just fine, is it just preference?

The wilkinson part number for these is WJ55CR

When I put Schaller locking tuners on my acoustic it stayed in tune better. I was hoping for the same with the Strat, as mine constantly goes out of tune.

That doesnt necessarily mean its the tuners though, is the tremolo setup properly, i pulled mine in a bit tighter by adjusting the screws on the claw on the back, or maybe try adding more springs to give it more tension.

No point spending money if its not really needed. Do these adjustments and give the guitar a good setup you never know that might just do the trick. Pardon me for preaching if you have already done all of this.

That's good advice alfunkz. It likely does need a good setup so I will take it in to my local shop and check into the trem adjustment. I had a Strat many years ago and my luthier at the time made that very adjustment, what he called turning it into a "hard tail" (permanent non-trem) but I had forgotten all about it until you mentioned it. Thanks a lot.

You could hardtail it also but i was just on about making it more stable, by putting a bit more tension in the springs, you might want to check the trem springs, if the outside ones are straight (like this |||) maybe move them to the outer holes on the trem block so they are slightly angled (like this \|/), and only the middle one straight. Turn the trem claw screws in a couple of turns so the claw pulls a little harder on the springs also. This is all stuff that can be done with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers and shouldn't really need a luthier (unless of course you really aren't that good with hand tools, some people aren't).

Heres the link to fenders own strat setup guide.

Thanks Roadie. Indeed mine does look like this \|/. I can do basic setup stuff myself so I'll take a look at the guide and see about making the trem adjustment. If I can't, then I'll take the next step and take it in. It's never been setup before and it's a few years old.

Its all good buddy i like to help others, and save them a few bucks too. Reading that how to guide was the way i taught myself to do setups, and a few youtube videos too. Now i wouldnt dream of paying anyone else to do it for me.

If you need a roadie just shout haha

I haven't had a minute to do anything yet. I did quickly look at the guide for how to make the adjustments though. Hopefully I can get to it this weekend. Thanks!

I've always found the nut to be the biggest issue with tuning stability. Squier do allow some really bad work out of the factory. The HR Deluxe I had a year or 2 back was hilarious. Proper snaggletooth. Thankfully it's a cheap fix.
