Hi,
I have a Bullet Strat a few years old, and just noticed that all of the pickguard screws are rusty (!). The screws on the plug surround are not rusty, nor are the screws on the tailpiece. I'm really surprised, as I rarely immerse my guitar in water :) Is this a common occurrence? Not a big deal, I'm just curious. I found replacement screws online, but will they just rust too? Surely there must be some stainless steel screws available that won't rust. No mention of stainless for any of these options:

Yeah, just touch them once and they start to rust. I got my stainless pickguard screws from e-bay. I am slowly replacing all my screws with stainless steel. Heres a link to some.

Sweat and oils on your hands tarnish the screws, it happens on every guitar. Think of it as natural ageing. People pay silly money for relic type guitars and yours is doing it all the old fashioned way

Thanks for your comments Messrs. K and Diver -- I'll order me up some new screws. I realize my Fauxtocaster is the World's Cheapest Guitar, but I'm surprised at the technology used to make a screw which will rust without any water or even high humidity. I can't think of any other chrome-like metal item in my entire house that has ever rusted. Curious!
