It all depends on what type of music you like to play for the pick ups, But as for the strings do you want average life strings or long life strings? Sometimes if I want to drop extra cash for great strings ill get Elixers medium-light gauge if I just want regular i use Ernie Ball strings. They sre the brand I use mostly. and since it being an electric guitar you will want nickle strings. And the amp your definately looking for the Fender blues jr!

For the most part of your answer i agree, and although the fender blues junior is a great amp and this is a fender site, i am gonna throw in some other ideas, like the blackstar h5, vox ac4, bugera v5 or v22. you may find that 15 watts of tube power may be too loud (if not for you then for youe neighbours, therefore the 5 watters fall nicely in line, i also mentioned the bugera v22 because it has a pentode/triode switch, that without getting too technical reduces the output power by around 40% which puts you right where you want to be, also don't discount some of the solid state amps out there some of them are actually very good like the vox pathfinder 15r, you can get some fantastic voxy tones out of it. Shop around do some research, and see what you can get for your money.

My advice would be to not over power the room, go for a bit less power and use the amp to its full potential, 15 watts of tube power is pretty much small gig territory. Hope i have helped
