Hey all!

I hope this topic has not already come up - I browsed through the forum listing quickly and didn't see a similar topic, but I apologize in advance if there is a like thread already.

Alright, so I own and play a 2004 Squier Affinity Series Strat. The body color is vintage/yellowed white. I had been looking for the aged white Stratocaster accessories kit for a while and finally came accross one at my local guitar shop yesterday. This one inparticular:

I was stoked! I picked it up and rushed home to peel apart my guitar and get the new accessories on. Just so you know, the kit comes with knobs (1 volume, 2 tone), three single pickup covers, back plate cover, pickup switch tip, and trem bar tip.

Now the sad part - and I found this out the hard way, unfortunately, as I am sure the information is out there - everything in the kit, except for the knobs, does not fit the Squier Strat.

The holes in the pickup guards did not line up. The back plate was smaller than the one on the guitar with a different screw hole pattern. The trem bar tip was too small for my trem bar. Finally, the pickup switch tip was too big for my pickup switch.

Needless to say I was pretty dissappointed and took my Strat apart for nothing last night.

I suppose I am making this thread for two reasons. First, if you have been looking at the Fender accessory kits for your Squier - at least the Squier guitars made overseas (okay, I only know for sure with the Indonesian made) - remember that the accessories will not fit. Secondly, if anyone knows where one can get accessories for Squier guitars, please do share.

Anyway, that's my venting for today. It is experiences like this that help me to remember that I have a lot to learn yet.

Cheers!

Unfortunately Squiers are sort of like the hotrods my friends build, sometimes parts line up, sometimes they don't. You can always drill new holes for pickguards and tremolo cover plates, and sometimes you will have to do this no matter how much you search, cause things just won't line up sometime. I wish there was one a one stop shop for Squier stuff, but I don't think there is. Some places I can recommend for searches are the links here:
http://www.fenderforum.com/forum.html?d ... 1420:18:15
and guitarfetish.com.

You may also want to look at import Strat parts, and not Fender Strat parts. Also, you may just have to accept the fact that sometimes to mod a Squier you may need to do an extra mod or two just to get the one mod you want to work.

try www.guitarefetish.com or www.allparts.com

all parts has a relatively cheap acessory kit like $7

i think guitare fetish makes some especially for imports and cheaper guitars

good luck
