I bought my son the Strat model and I think it was a great value. The graphics are cool and unusual. It does not look like your run of the mill Squier. I don't really like the soft plastic nut, I think it will wear quickly. The neck is very nice and I am surprised by the quality of the frets and general finish. I lkie the look of the worn hardware. It keeps it's tune very well. I think it sounds pretty good and I've been playing for 30 years. I bought it at Guitar center when they had a 10% off everythign day. So for $225 it was a suprisingly great value. My son loves it, he's 14 and this is his first guitar. I wish my first guitar was this nice! I should have gotten him a G-Dec too, but I got a Line 6 Spider, which is cool for a starter amp too.

Man that guitar is extra ugly. I don't like it one bit. I don't know what to think of Obey either. If you look at their website it has like weird propaganda poster that have real political messages. Kinda extreme for a clothing company. Maybe it has some other ties. It would be cool for a first guitar and even better with a g-dec. I just don't think that I would have ever wanted one.

I feel like I can speak on the topic of Obey Graphics here. Being that the work is spawned from a street artist, which I suppose I could be considered as well.

Obey is not a clothing company, skateboard company, or anything of the like - though you can now find the designs on clothing, skateboards, and the guitars in question, among other items. A street artist by the name of Shepard Fairey is the hand behind the artwork. It started in 1989 when he created simple stickers with a picture of Andre the Giant and the quote "Andre the Giant has a posse." As his artwork evolved, his work as a whole became known as a part fo the Obey Giant movement.

As far as the quiality of the guitars with the Obey graphics - I have no idea. Never played one. :P
