Plenty of real Squiers were made in China, so I don't see a problem there!

If I understand you correctly, he said it's fake and sucks just because it's a made in China Squier? Sounds like you need new friends.

My Squier Strat is nothing special but it stays in tune and sounds pretty nice through my Line 6, the Squier on the headstock doesn't make it any less valuable to me.

Not something you should worry about, if it's good to you than that's all you need right?

I wouldn't worry about it. Right now my CV 60's Squire is the cats MEOW! If your guitar sounds good. Don't worry about where it was made. Just keep rockin on! :)

I recommend that you do not worry about where your guitar is made. As long as it sounds and plays good for you, who cares if it is not Fender or Squier. Pics would help us determine if it is a legitimate Fender or Squier guitar. Regardless, as long as you are happy with the guitar, who cares if your friend doesn't like it. If he does not like it, he does not have to play it. I have seen some amazing stuff played on "cheap" guitars by good guitarists and they made them sound awesome. Remember the magic is not in the origin of the guitar, but the person playing it.

If your friend was trying to say your Chinese made Fender or Squier is not a real guitar because of the country of origin, tell them to grow up. Fender and Squier both have guitars that are Crafted in China. I have played some crappy American made Fenders and some awesome made Chinese Squiers. Country of origin does not equate to a better guitar, just more expensive to make. This is just my 2 cents here.

Squires were both Made in China and Crafted in China. It has nothing to due with Quality. It does indicate age to a point. Fender made that change with the Made in Japan Fenders too. Crafted implies handmade by craftsman. Now other brands are using the same phrase.

Squier are and have been made by fender in many places china/japan/indonesia to name a few they even had a certain amount made i USA, some of fenders modern player range are made in the same factory as as the squier classic vibe series i believe. You really have nothing to worry about i think your friend is comparing your guitar to american made fender guitars which in general are of better quality but also a lot more expensive.

A quick answer, even if it's a bit late.
And sorry for my english, i'm French...

Your Squier's not some kind of fake ! And it's a real guitar, a real instrument.
I'm playing guitar for 20 years now. I've had some really beautiful guitars, like Gibson flying V of 1969, fender stratocaster Contemporary and other nice ones... Actually, I still play on my Fender ones, and few months ago, i've bought a Squier made in China. A 50's Classic Vibe. It is a very cheap guitar.
But I have to admit that it's the one I love to play with actually. Very pretty, and good sound too.
She's just beside me at the moment...
What else could I say ?

Enjoy your Squier, mate...

Your guitar is fine. Don't let other people try to convince you it isn't. I've played for over fifty years and have owned a lot of guitars in that time, expensive ones and low cost ones. I liked each in one way or another and all were playable. Right now I am really liking my new Squier JM Jazzmaster. It was made in Indonesia. (I had to look at it just now to find out). I really don't care where it was made. I only know that it plays and sounds great. That's really all that matters.

My Squier is not made in America but it is beautiful and sounds and plays great - that's all you need it to do.

I have two USA Standard Stratocasters. One purchased new in 1979, and the new 2012 Stratocaster purchased recently. I also have a Squier 'Simon Neil' Stratocaster that I purchased in 2011 made in China.

I set them all up myself, to my own preference.

My Squier looks, sounds, and plays equally as good as my other two USA Strats. I love it. Enjoy your Squier. Perhaps you might consider a new friend.......

Enjoy your music.

Your friend is a idiot. I've been playing for 40 years (I'm 53) and right now, I have a Squier CV 60's Strat and a ESP LTD Viper 100-FM, both of which were made in China. They are both outstanding guitars which I would put up against anything made in the USA. It's not where the guitar is made, but who is playing the guitar. Your friend needs to understand that. You can have a $1,000.00 American made guitar but if you don't know how to play it, it's going to sound like crap. But if you know how to play and have a Chinese made instrument, then you're going to make it sound like a work of art. And a lot of great sounding guitars are coming out of China today, to be honest with you, from not just squier, but also from ESP, Epiphone, Ibanez, just to mention a few.
