Hey! does anyone know why my squier stratocaster says it was made in Korea but has a serial number starting wit MZ20 ? in theory that should be a mexican serial. I bought this guitar in 1994, it is a squier start without pickguard and with H-S-S configuration, I have not seen one like this. Can anyone help me figure out what year it was made? the serial is MZ2079804

thanks!

A lot of parts are started at one location and assembled elsewhere.
I would consider it a MIK rather than MIM, and live with it.
Otherwise you will be trying to defend your believe that it is a MIM
and happened to have a "Made in Korea" mistake label.
Good Luck. Toppscore :)

That makes sense! thank you! I am Actually sure it is Korean, it was my first guitar, I just wanted to know what year it was made and was curious about that "M" on the serial number.

Lots of guitars are made in Korea.
I believe Gretsch & Schecter are both Korean.
Toppscore :)
