Post some photos. I find that very hard to believe.

I played a standard fat Tele that made a Les Paul feel like a feather weight. Don't know about 14 lbs but it was heavy It had a greyish black metalflake finish I told the store owner it was lead.

Someone must have hidden their stash of gold under the pickguard.

I have an Epiphone double-neck that doesn't weigh that much and it's a brute.

Better check your scale...

Been over a week since the OP posted. I tend to doubt the seriousness of the question and just chalk this up to a troll.

Troll issues aside...

It could very well be a southern swamp ash body (as apposed to whatever ash they usually use for tele's). That stuff is -really- freakin dense and as such tends to be real heavy. The one southern swamp ash body I have comes in at a hefty 11+ pounds, wood only.

Just a thought...

Without knowing the model, I seriously doubt any Squire Telecasters are made out of southern swamp ash. The OP is a troll in my opinion.

Have you thought about exchanging it for a lighter specimen?

I ordered a Squier tele online and what arrived was HEAVY. I don't know the exact weight. But, it was so heavy, it compressed my vertebrae after a few minutes of playing. The sustain and tone was heavenly but unplayable in the standing position. Had I continued playing that heavy, I'd have munched my back, bad.

Long story short, I contacted Fender. They said the specs were up to 14 lbs on that model! I contacted the seller. They exchanged it for a lighter specimen that sounded like poop, no sustain, muddled overtones, bad. So, I sent that one back too. Tried a mex tele, junk. Ordered a Hwy One strat, got a heavy, sent it back. Got a light specimen on the exchange, finally, heaven!

If that guitar is too heavy for you, bring it back, get a lighter guitar! And, don't let the freakazoids who think you're a troll deter you. You asked a valid question and have a valid concern.

Unless of course, you are a troll. Then...shame on you.

Out of curiosity, are you a troll?

It's been two weeks now with no sign of the OP and no response to some simple questions. That's a troll as far as I am concerned.

Maybe, but on lots of occasions I've seen y'all blast a few good questions out of the water.

I was taught that everybody is a customer and to treat *everybody* as such. ...somebody asks a question, answer it, move on.

Throwing in the troll question is trolling in and of itself -- they're trolling for trolls, which is worse? What if you turn that troll into a customer??? I look at it that way. Convert the troll into a customer and leave an answer to their question, somebody may find that answer and not have to ask that question.

The troll controversy seems to be a huge waste of time.

feck the trolls, answer the questions!

But, I don't see this question as trolling as I've had the same experience.
