Hello everyone!

Nice to join you!

I have a '96 Squier Strat 50th anniversary, serial number YN6, 22 frets.

I haven t used it for ages, and I want do some set up.

I saw that, http://www.fender.com/en-GR/support/art ... etup-guide ,

but I don t know what the Neck Radius is.

Does anybody know?

Is there any way to set it up without knowing the Neck Radius?

Thanks a lot!

yes, use the guide as just that.... a guide.

I usually just make sure the neck is straight using sight and a straight edge on top of the frets its a pretty good indicator, as for the string height i set it foender specs or to as low as possible without the strings buzzing on the frets all the way along the finger board, fender has its guidelines but it doesnt mean you need to stick to it exactly.

Setting the neck relief is a pretty tricky thing to get right, be careful not to over do it.

Hope this helps

sure it helps!thanks!

I was also thinking of makin some modifications

seymour duncan alnico II APS2 for neck and middle
seymour duncan quarter pound SSL 4 for bridge,
replacing the pots with fender 250k
replacing the tunners
replacing the bridge section

what do you think, is it worthwhile,
will the sound be improved,
or there will only be slight changes?

yeah it will make a difference, if its worthwhile is up to you.

the pup's will be a good improvement, a new trem system will probably add more sustain, and the tuners (depending on what you put in it) will help tuning stability, the main change with the pots will better quality

I was thinking to put these tuners http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_vintage_tuners_rh.htm

as for the tremolo, I am not thinking of replacing the whole system,
just the bridge section http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_bridgesection.htm
will that be any good?

the saddles (bridge section) you are looking at will have a different string spacing, you should measre the current string spacing before you purchase new saddles to make sure you get the correct ones.

The tuners should be good but you may have to drill the holes out for them to fit, and you may be left with small holes on the back of the headstock where the old tuners were

unfortunatelly somebody has messed with the saddles spacing :?

what about those?are they a better choice? http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_bridges ... intage.htm

in order to improve the sustain or tone
you think I have to change the whole tremolo system
or can I achieve that by simply changing the saddles?

no you need to look for saddles for an import guitar anything fender will have incorrect spacing, the right saddles may help with sustain and tuning too

hmmm I obviously misunderstood the term "string spacing".
It refers to the distance between strings, I thought sth else at first...
as I measure it with a ruler, it is 1cm ( I don t know if this is the right way to measure string spacig though...)
any suggestions for the right saddles?

I think this one might be correct http://www.thomann.de/gr/graph_tech_str ... _strat.htm

1st to 6th string is about 5.2 cm (ok this measurement cannot be very accurate, I only have a simple ruler)

this one http://www.thomann.de/gr/graph_tech_str ... _strat.htm says E1 to E6 is 2.076 inches = 5.27304 centimeters

so I guess it is the correct!

it also says - "new material for more sustain and longer string life"
sounds impressive
