I've searched many posts but can't find the answer. Can anyone tell me how to wire the bridge pickup into the middle tone circuit? I found a simple one wire hookup for a regular 5 way but this one is totally different, with all the tabs on top in a single row. Thanks for any help.

What about putting a new standard Strat switche instead of your low cost switch ? Just few dollards and you'll be "standard" with better switch.

its actually quite simple to convert you are looking at a diagram of fenders standars switch with 4 terminals on either side of the switch like this
Image
what you have is the stock alpha import switch with inline teminals like this
Image

Alpha switch---------Fender switch
1 Bridge--------------Bridge 1
2 Middle-------------------------5 Volume
3 Neck----------------Middle 2
4 Volume------------------------6
5 Volume---------------Neck 3
6---------------------------------7 Middle Tone
7 Middle Tone-------Volume 4
8 Neck Tone---------------------8 Neck tone

if you look where the pickups are wired to on your alpha switch this gives you terminals 1, 2, and 3 now from the diagram follow where the tone/volume wires go from the pots to the switch, and do the same with your switch it should work out as my diagram above, i am guessing you need to solder a bridging wire between terminals 6 and 7 to introduce the bridge pickup to the tone cicuit.

A long winded reply but i hope this helps

Stratele52, I'm not opposed to putting in a better switch, I just don't have one. I'm off work today and needed to change strings, just wanted a quick fix.
alfunkz, you are correct. Bridge from 6 to 7 works perfectly. Thanks for your help. I think the stock pickups sound great, but the bridge was just too bright. This did the trick, all for the low, low price of $free.99! Thanks guys.

I know this is an old string but a question. Hopefully someone is still watching.

If you move the red wire from 7 to 6 then this takes the middle pickup off of the second tone knob and puts the Bridge pickup on the second tone knob, yes?

Also, what if I want to change the 5 way so that instead of turning on in the usual configuration I was able to activate neck and bridge instead of bridge and middle pickup. Has anybody tried this and what might it sound like? Or maybe eliminate the middle pickup single on and have neck and bridge?

Thanks

Frank
