Unfortunately my Squier VM 70's guitar didn't arrive, and they are now saying it could take a few more weeks :(

After starting to play with my daughter's Daisy Rock guitar (yes, bright sparkly pink) I'm not sure if I can wait too much longer. The store have suggested the Squier Deluxe Hot Rails Strat Electric Guitar (more money) or Fender FSR Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar Black (much more money) as alternatives if I cannot wait.

Does anyone have any thoughts/feedback, remembering of course that I am a beginner?

The Squier Deluxe line is pretty good. If you're going for the Deluxe Hot Rails, also just look into the normal Deluxe since it's the same guitar with just different pick ups. There's various sound demos on youtube for both of them.

If you're thinking about going for a Fender Standard Strat, which usually go for around $499, I'd say forget that and just go with a G&L Legacy Tribute which is also $499, yet superior in every possible given way to a MIM Fender Strat. The G&L Legacy is a Strat, some even say it sounds more like a Strat than a Strat sounds like a Strat, if that makes any sense lol.

The Deluxe is a good model but the hot rails deluxe is not the same. Rosewood neck not maple. the one I played did not have as good fret work, I know Sam Ash has the VM 70's Black and Maple in stock. The online dealers have a $25 instant rebate on the VM 70's and some other models. I've rushed into buying something other than what I wanted and regretted it later. So think about it and play that Daisy Rock until what you want arrives
