Hello.
I'm a Norwegian guy who picked up a used china-made SE-100 Squier(CAE-00) some while ago. Wondering if someone got some technical advice on this one.

So whats up?
- first up, I'm doing something whit the pickups. (Rewiring, change magnets or just replace them)
- then maybe give the neck a better shape.
- already changed pots and switch and done a shielding-job

Someone got any other suggestions? :D

Post some pics from a website like Flicker or Photobucket of the guitar. Pics are always nice.

Do not have any pictures of it on the web at the time. But it should look like this:

Only whit a few war-scratches more. Picked it up as a worn out guitar at a shop in Gjøvik(Norway), and it looked like it was ready for the afterlife. I asked them if they got any thrash from a costumer that they needed to get rid of. Cause I like to fix things. So, lots of missing parts and a totally loose pickguard.

A few days later I ordered some parts and gave it a setup. When i was doing the electronics i noticed some big magnets that gives the guitar a fat sound. But still, its a budget guitar, so the sound ain't that clear. So i want to give the rewiring a try. Found a picture where your able to see the magnets underneath the hood on Google BTW:

The electronics is replaced on my one, a better switch whiteout the PCB budget stuff and some new pots

those magnets look like they are ceramic magnets, generally ceramics are hotter pup's (higher output), i would suggest putting some pickups in with alnico magnets these will give a more classic/vintage tone there are some very good cheap ones out there, i got the texas blues "alamos" from here for my partscaster they sound real good.

Talking about high output, the original pots were some 500k pots. I have installed some 250k, so its ready to go whit some Vintage or Texas. Anyway I think its a smart thing to get some normal alnico pickups. Just need to try out some different alnico(II, III and V) in different positions. I also want to order some neodymium magnets just to try it, maybe to much output.
