Hi guys! I need some help. I'm the owner of the Squier black mirror telecaster and it seems that my tone pot is not working. When I'm using it no sound change at all. The sound is muted with more bass. In the very beginning it was like couple of days working than suddenly not and so on. Now is not working all the time. What can it be, pot or maybe even capacitor? Please help. Thanks.

If your soud is with " more bass" that's mean tone is always in fonction. Beacause Tone control is a circuit that send hight frequency to ground or eliminate clear sound , leaving only the bass.

Something is short under the control plate. If you can remove the two woos screws holding thios plate to the guitar body a send us a photo of the tone potentiometer. Maybay we should see what's wrong in the circuit.

i had the same problem when i upgraded the electrics on my standard tele, turned out the cap was shorting out aganst the pot so i just moved it and abracadabra it worked, sounds like a short or a loose soldr connection

personally i would inspect the solder joints first as you say the problem was on and off to begin with and has now completely stopped, sounds to me that a loose connection has now completely diconnected, but i am no expert just talking from experience

Thanks all for the fast response. It was indeed short circuit problem. The two pot legs where connected with each other. Thanks a lot. I would never solve this without you guys. Take care.
