Hi!

When I first had my Squier Telecaster Thinline, it came with 0.09 strings, and a "fret Buzz", as there was too much space between the stings and the neck. I asked to change the strings to 0.11, and tight the neck a bit. Although the fret buzz disappeared, Now my Squier does not sound so good. It seems as if it sounds less, there is less sustain, and when I am playing like rithmn, with a pick, it sounds awful, too bright. Can anyone please help? I think I will change to 0.09, but hope that does not harm the neck.

Change to 9s and get the guitar set up properly.

Some players claim that you get better sound and sustain with 11's. Personaly I like a custom lite set 9-46. What type of strings you use make a difference. I have had a few sets of dead strings over the years. A quality brand is important. Bluesky is right that a good setup is needed. One things to check is the pickup height. By adjusting the neck to get the buzz out they could have changed to spacing to the pickups enough to cause the magnetic pull from the pickups to dampen the strings.

Just changed to 0.09s. Less tension in the neck. Sounds better, so far so good.

a good setup is also a good thing to do, if you change string size you should also setup the guitar to those strings, here is the fender guide to setups for teles.
