Replacing the pickups without replacing the pots, jack, and switch. Is a waste of money. For half the price of the SD's you can get a loaded pickguard from GFS or Dragonfire. If you really want the SD's wait until you can afford to upgrade everything or you will be disappointed. You might even find a preloaded pickguard with SD's on ebay for the same price you'd pay for the pickups alone

I was looking at doing an doing upgrade on my Standard Fat Strat. Don't mind spending a few extra bucks for quality parts... CTS 250K Audio Taper Pro Grade Guitar Pots , CRL Brand USA Lever Switch & Vishay/Sprague Precision Orange Drop Capacitors (they provide a .022 and a .047, I presume so you have a choice? One or the other?). For pups I was thinking Seymour Duncan...a TB4 JB for the humbucker and SSL3s for the Mid & Neck. Should cost around $200. All this into a Marshall MG30FX... for now. I'm looking at a tube amp in the near future, liking the Marshal Class 5 along with a BOSS OS-2.

That sounds like a nice combo. I built a Strat many years ago with Dimarzio's B-1 tele bridge, SDS-1 mid and a Dual Sound in the neck. What a neat sounding Axe. I really liked that dual sound and have been thinking about putting one in the mim HSS Start I just got. "I'm really not a fan of ceramic PU's" Here's a link to some vintage type cap's and while you amp shopping give a Mustang 3 or 4 a test drive. I really like how they react to the volume knob and string dynamics.
