For all Tele buffs:

So, I have decided to mod my stock Squier Standard Telecaster. I want to make it vintage, even at the least. So can anybody tell me what kind of Fender Tele it's modeled after? It says in the product description that it's modeled after a late 60s Fender Tele, but exactly what year? I want to model it EXACTLY after that.
I've spent the last 3 hours researching on the internet but to no avail..

Any suggestions on what I should change? I'm thinking machine heads, bridge plate, and pickguard. Anything else?

Cheers from the Philippines!

If it is a "reissue" already than all your hardware, except maybe the tuners and bridge should be accurate. Did you search for catalogs from the 60s? When it is modeled after an era than you can be sure things like color combos, neck and body style. even the logo should be spot on. If you are talking about relicing, that's a whole different issue. Does your tele have the individual saddles for the strings or the bar type saddles?

You need to re-read that description. The neck is modeled after an early 60's Tele. The rest is modern Telecaster. You can easily switch out the bridge for a Vintage 3-saddle, switch out the pickups for Vintage Tele, Nocaster or Broadcaster (Original Name) pickups and even rewire it to match some of the early variations. But whats really important is what sound are you after.

i'm with idaho, a nice set of vintage late 60's voiced pups, google 60's telecaster wiring diagram, should get plenty of hits, some pull back cloth wiring for the authentic look you shouldnt be far off

I think for the electronics I'd go with a prewired DiMarzio Twang King or Area T set. Both those sound pretty sweet!
