does anyone know where i could find a Squire Venus?
they've been discontinued since like '98, so they're pretty hard to come across.

There's always 2nd-hand shops. Call the pawns, independent shops, etc. Craigslist might be worth a look too.

I've always wondered about these. Still, they're forever tainted by Courtney Love

You can most likely thank Courtney Love for the $700 price tag as that is who co-designed the guitar with Squier/Fender. It seems like anything that is associated with Kurt Cobain usually gets a higher price, so the guitar model designed and used by his wife will get a higher than usual price because the seller knows that either a diehard guitar collecter and/or diehard Nirvana fan will eventually pay for it.

However, it is also a Vista Series Squier, and the discontinued Vista Series Squiers are spoken highly of, regarded as good instruments, and are well sought after, so they usually do get significantly higher prices than what a new or used Affinity, Standard, or Vintage Modified Squier usually go for.

true, true
i understand that it's a discontinued model and is a better quality guitar than most other squiers.
i'm not a fan of Nirvana, however, i am a fan of Hole.
but i just love the looks and sound of this guitar and i'd love to find one at a reasonable price.
but who knows, i may have to give in and drop $700 for it.
