Hi guys,

couple of quick questions. I just bought a Squier Affinity Special Tele via the internet, from a Auth. Fender dealer, in the UK. The guit. is great but I'm annoyed about a few things:

1. There was no booklet/manual with it.
2. The shop told me I would get a 2year warranty with them and a further 3 wiith Fender, now they are telling me that's not true. I only get the 2yrs
3. I have been told that all squiers have free gig bags with them at the moment, from fender and that shops are keeping them to sell seperatey.

Does anyone know if this is true? about the bags. Also anyone know what I can do about the warranty thing?, and should I have a manual or something?

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a new Squier VM 70's Strat and it did not come with a gig bag, so I don't think they held it back from you. At one time the Fender MIM standard series guitars came with a gig bag but I don't believe they do anymore. You can buy them for about $20 however. With regard to the warranty you should email Fender customer relations via this website. They should be able to clear it up for you. You can also go to the "support" section and download manuals. They may not have one for your specific model but the setup guide etc. are going to be similar for most Tele's.

generally, squiers dont come with a manual just a guitar in a box with basic tools to adjust the bridge and trussrod, or a gigbag unless its stated at time of purchase or you have worked a deal with the dealer. as far as warranty goes any dealer will offer you the basic warranty from fender which i believe is 2 years, might be worth contacting fender themselves to see if you can register the guitar and what the standard warranty is

Hi guys,

I have spoken to Fender and I was right bout the gig bags. They are supplying deluxe gig bags with their Squier Teles in Uk, so mine should hopefully be forwarded to me. The store have said Fender failed to send one with my guitar.

The warranty in the uk is 2years although some stores do offer
extended ones with themselves, not with Fender. It seems like the store just got mixed up as all manufactures have different warranty periods.

Thanks for the info. but does anyone who bought a Squier Tele recently in uk know exactly what comes in the box? ie if there's a manual?

Cheers

There was no "manual" with my Squier Affinity Strat. It came in a cardboard box with two Allen keys, one for the truss rod and a smaller one for adjusting the height of the bridge saddles.

Not sure exactly what you would put in a manual for these guitars ? It would be pretty thin.

If you are looking for basic set up advice and information for Teles and Strats - action, intonation etc - that can be found via the Fender support pages.

Otherwise - you plug in, and you play !

If you are looking for basic info on how to set up a Tele (string adjustment etc.) click on Support at the top of this web page then go to Knowledgebase and highlite one of the many Tele manuals listed. There isn't one for the Squier or even some of the Fenders but basic info is similar for most Tele models.
