Has anyone put a Semour Duncan Hot Rails bridge pickup in their Squier Tele? I got an email from the SD tech and he said it "should" fit. He also said the wiring would be different than a Fender (sort of complicates things a bit). Really curious about the Hot Rails, I think they would be cool but I'm unsure if they will fit through the bridge plate. Any suggestions on a neck pickup to go along with the Hot Rails bridge? :?:

I think I have seen it done before, but I am just not sure where...

I am sure if you put an inquiry in at the Tele-Tech section of this forum:

Someone there might know...

The Hot Rail is fatter than a regular pickup. You will need a file to widen the hole. I had a hard time getting it through my strat pickguard. It still sits sideways but plays like a million dollars. I don't remember having trouble wiring it. Here are the instructions for the Duncan Performer Scorcher Rails:

Connect Red & White wires of each pickup and insulate ends.

Connect Green & Drain wires and solder to ground.

Connect Black wires to switch.

If pickup is out of phase with other in set, reverse Black & Green wires.

The shells of all pots must be grounded.

The capacitor value is .47 mfd.

Then they get fancy with Phasing, Series Parallel or Series/Split/Paralllel

It is also a lot easier with a picture which you can probably download from Duncan.

Good luck and don't give up. I got the cheap Rails and they scream over the Duc Buckers. I like to play the two at the same time bridge and middle.
