I bought one in 2006 because it was supposed to be a limited-run. But they're still selling them and the official description still says "limited run". I don't think they're very limited or that they're going to stop producing them anytime soon. A dude in a band I liked at the time was playing a Squier Butterscotch for a couple years before I ever got one. That's at least 8 years that these have been around.

Where does it say anything about a "limited run"?

The butterscotch Afinity Tele definitely used to be marketed as a limited edition, I had one and can vouch for that. Like most limited editions of things in my experience, I believe they were limited to the number they could sell. ;)

You're spot-on but the fact of the matter is that if you buy this guitar online from Guitar Center, MusiciansFriend, etc. the description says:

"Now you can grab a Squier Affinity Series Telecaster Special even if you're on a budget. This limited-run axe is a Fender-designed honey. It features the most famous of all Tele finishes atop an alder body joined to the rock-solid bolt-on maple neck with maple fretboard and dot inlays. Also has a 25-1/2" scale, medium-jumbo frets, and 2 single-coil pickups."

If Fender is going to keep producing this model they should update the info as it's not really a limited-run like the consumer or newbie are expecting.

Complain to Guitar Center/Musician's Friend. Fender has no control over what sort of misinformation retailers put on their web sites or catalogs. Like I said in my first response, where does FENDER call it a "limited run"?
