You think that the lipsticks that Squier is using in the Vintage Modified Surf Stratocaster are the same as the lipsticks the modern Danelectro company uses?

They look the same, don't they. Squires are Duncan design, so maybe Danelectro uses the same supplier. Look at Fort Madison Guitars website, they make a pick guard for a Strat. to mount 3 Danelectro PU's.

Fender has a Youtube demo if you dare. I've got an original '66 Silvertone w/ 2 lipsticks. Sounds so amazing! In the Tom Hanks movie That Thing You Do! one of the guys plays a 2-pickup amp-in-case model. I had mine on CL for trade for awhile but passed up vintage Gibsons, Fenders and modern Fenders. The pickups on mine are outstanding + the brazillian rosewood that's supposed to be endanged and rare now. I don't think my guitar is that great playability-wise but it has value and sounds great so I'm keeping it for now 'cause I know I'm not going to get another even if they aren't very expensive. Mine has the original tremelo footswitch. :D

I'm planning on picking one of these up soon. I watched the You Tube video and the sound from the pickups was pretty good. Different than a regular Strat for sure. I'm just waiting to play one before I decide. When I try it out I'm going to plug into a Champ 600 and play Hawaii 5-0.

this is from fender GB a longer vid confirms the pups are duncan designed, put some reverb and a little bit of flange and surfs up baby  whats the betting everyone wants the surf green though, rather than the C.A.R or L.P.B colours

Surf Green = :)

Seriously that was a great color, Fender used to have some great colors in their catalog. Now it seems that they have dwindled down to just 4 or 5. Not everyone wants a black guitar.

Now I would want to see and hear that original tremelo footswitch you have. Anyway, back on the topic, I also like the color. Am thinking of building one myself but not just sure with the budget to do it.

I wouldn't mind having a surf green Strat myself. Such a lovely color.
