I finally bit the bullet (I made a funny) and went to the store to try out some guitars. I had my eye on this guitar for quite a while. I played it and it cried "take me home with you" so I left with it. My first impression: This is a $119 guitar? And I got mine for $109 with a coupon. I don't know how Fender makes a quality instrument so cheaply. It's a true marvel of contemporary musical instrument design that this guitar can be offered at this price level. The color is fantastic, the barely-finished neck is unique among my guitars and is a blast to fly around on. I love the raw feel of this guitar. It could be confused with feeling cheap, but to me it feels more raw and rough around the edges than it feels cheap. Playability is not that far away from my other Fenders. The feel of the knobs and switches is better than the feel of the knobs on a $2000 Les Paul that I played during the trip to GC. The body is thinner than my other Strats, but it's barely noticeable unless you pick the light guitar up. The only bad thing is that my fingers are filthy after playing it. I think it has dirty strings.I bought a can of Chempack Tone Finger Ease string lubricant. How do you use this stuff? Just spray it on the strings when they're on the guitar? The bottle says to do a test spot if you have a cheap guitar but would this stuff damage a Bullet? I don't want to ruin my new baby. I should probaly buy a new set of strings and clean the fretboard really well.

Carter the Cat approves of the Bullet.

Again, this is a $119 guitar?

I know, right? I got one as well, the 'Fiesta Red' model as they call it. Don't know why people would bash this, it's a fine instrument.

Also -- nice cat! :D

Adrian Belew has a pink Strat, check out what he makes it do. My friend Joe has a hot pink Telecaster that was a limited run for the Dixie Chicks, it's quite a cool guitar actually.

I ended up returning it. I bought a Marauder and needed the money to pay for it. And every time I played the Bullet, it just made me want to play my '50s Classic Series Strat. It was nice, but didn't feel as nice as my other Strats. And it had an annoying string buzz. I mostly bought it for the color, but the novelty wore off. But I would recommend one of these guitars to somebody who wants a quality instrument and doesn't want to spend a lot of money.

You don't know how it works? Guitars that cost over $800 magically make you a better player. Cause we all know if someone like Eric Clapton or David Gilmore picked up a Squire they would sound like crap!
Obviously I'm joking but there are elitists that just thumb their noses at Squires or any other cheap guitar because in their mind the ONLY way you sound good is to play a US made guitar.
I take the old fashioned approach. I'll buy a $800+ guitar when I'm making tons of money playing it. Until then I'll practice on what ever holds a tune.
