I have not seen one of those before. I bet it was a precursor to the HM and Stagemaster Series. I have seen one of these before:

Mine in an '89 HM III. I used to own one in '87 that was midnight wine. I do not think the Humbucker and knobs are orginal on yours and someone may have added another tone knob, but I may be mistaken.

I bought this guitar about 4 days after i bought my new am dlx stratocaster. I bought it off of a guy i knew..paid $200 with the case you see in one of the pics. I know that the humbucker is not original. I tried looking at the back of the pickup to find what seymour duncan model it is i see it says usa and stuff but, no model. The body is lamanated wood too. Been trying to find out if, the body is original squier body to the neck or, if it is a diffrent make body like, ibanaz or other. its apart now at the moment. i keep breaking hi-E string for some reason plus, other minor probs. I am debating at the moment of wether to go thru it or, look for a solid wood strat body i can put the neck on. I really like the action of the neck. nice playing/sounding guitar when probs do not arise. Anyway, Thanks for your post rkreisher, Nice looking guitar you have there by the way.

That older Floyd Rose designed system is a little troublesome. I take it that it is the high E string and it breaks when pulling back? My old '87 used to do that. See if there burr or sharp piece of metal around the saddle or hole where the string comes out at the saddle.

That is a pretty old system there. You could replace that licensed Floyd with a newer Floyd system. New they go for $175 to $300 depending on exact model you want. The lower budget $175 model will still be an upgrade from that eighties designed Floyd.

As far as the body and neck, short of taking your guitar apart and looking, I could not tell you if it is put together will all orginal stock pieces or not. It appears to be a Squier neck and body. Mine looks different because it is a HM series made for the Metal scene. As I mentioned in my last post your model was a precursor to my series and my series is a precursor to the Stagemaster.

Please take a measurement out of curousity..

I have a lot of HM's, (I bought everyone I saw on ebay and the rest of the world for a few years!) and the scale is 25.4 on the HM series.

I have went thru 3 high E strings since i have owned it. (2yrs) 2 broke during bending and, the last one broke on it's own while the guitar was just sitting on the stand. Among other probs, the 5 way switch is bad but i bought an american fender 5 way switch for it. (it is still in it's package) ....Also, the hi e does not stay in tune i use the fine tune on it till it eventually bottoms out then, i have to reset it back to center, loosen nut clamp and retune e string to pitch via the tuning key on headstock. And, the input jack has probs too but, i am not sure i can fix as i have not had it out of the body yet. don't really care about the floating trem either. I will look at the trem bridge very closely see if any burrs or damage. i really not much of a trem bar user anyway. Thanks for the tip.

For sure looks original. Matches the appearance of one I saw on craigslist a while ago. Owner said it was a 1989 model year. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a Seymour Duncan JB model bridge pickup as those seem to be most popular modifications to put in superstrat guitars. Those are likely Epiphone les paul bell knobs on there.

Also rkreisher's '89 HM III has a flat neck end where it meets the body....yours is rounded off.

Don't know anything else about it though.
