My project, currently modifying a Squire Jazzmaster Vintage modified. I'm a big Firebird and Jazzmaster fan so I wanted to create something in-between. Work in progress and still a little unsure of pickup setup. Probably a P90 in the bridge and a Jazzmaster or Strat pickup in the neck (whichever i choose i will modify whatever pickup to both fit under identical pickup covers)

What do you think?

I think it's no longer a 'Jazzmaster' if it's fitted with a P90 and a Strat pickup. No Jazzmaster pickups..no Jazzmaster I'm thinking  The real beauty of a Jazzmaster above all else, is it's Fantastic sounding pickups 8) The VM Duncan pups are Ultra smooth..about as good as it gets for JM pups 8)

Matty, I'll have to disagree with you on this one. I have a 66' reissue MIJ JAzzmaster which I plan on putting in some hot 60's overwound strat pickups in. I don't care too much for the flat pole peices or the low output of the stock JM pups. I plan on putting the strat pups in upside down ala Jimi style. My guitar would still be a jazzmaster, but my own custom JM.
