My classic vibe 50's telecaster was building up static electricity in the pickguard. I'm guessing because of the material it's made from. I can rub my fingers back and forth just below the strings and it sounds like socks fresh out of the dryer coming from the amp! I can even feel it although it's not enough to shock me. I read in another thread about guys using bounce dryer sheets and wiping the pickguard. I tried that but it did not work well for me. Besides, it made the pickguard greasy. I found something else. Guitar polish. Polish the pickguard and you're good for a few days. Polish the whole guitar and you're good for much longer. I used Martin guitar polish but I'd say any kind will do. My Squier doesn't know it's not a Martin!
