Hello,

just saw this on one of the other forums and thought it should be posted here as well. Looks like Musician's Friend is selling new Squire Cyclones, holiday priced for $179.00, and will start shipping mid December. I ordered the Lake Placid blue. Will give you updates when it arrives.

I want to add that these have been out of production since 2006.

Did the Squier Cyclone is also available with dual humbuckers?

No, but you can see from the body route that another humbucker or combination could easily be added.

Right, but you need to change the pickguard.

Actually there's no replacement guard for a dual humbucker Cyclone, the pickguardian makes pickguards only for the original Cyclone and the Cyclone II with the three Jaguar pickups and switching - unless you place a custom inquiry for a Cyclone guard routed for two humbuckers.

Of course you can drop an original Fender Cyclone HH guard into a Squier Cyclone body, however I'm afraid if the scratchplate could fit properly.

No need to buy a replacement scratchplate. A router with the proper bit and you can cut for a humbucker. You can also use a jigsaw or hand saw and finish with a file. If you aren't comfortable with tools, then see if a local cabinet maker or someone who lays counter tops can cut it for you.

Sounds and feels fantastic! I just spent the last hour playing it and would've continued, but my shop doesn't have heat and it was 45 degrees in there! My hands couldn't take anymore of the cold. I have two broncos, with the mustang shaped body, but they lack the contours. This is my first contoured mustang shaped body and I must say that I love it and prefer it over the non-contoured Bronco. I really like the way my right arm rest/hits against the body. The weight is nice and lite and it's a very comfortable guitar when strapped on. As you can see the neck is satin finished and I did not think that I would like it,being use to a slick lacquered finish, but still find it quite comfortable and easy to play. I may or may not spray the neck later, for now I will keep it as it is. I am sure that the neck being satin finished helps to contribute to the low price of the guitar. Again, this is a well made, low priced guitar, not a cheap guitar. If I hadn't just picked up a used Jaguar I would buy another in red, but would love one in the original yellow or orange. Apparently the Canadians are getting them in other cool colors; sonic blue, daphne blue, shell pink(I think...or maybe it's an aged white) and seafoam green.

The shop I was in today had daphne blue, fiesta red, and a cream color with a tortoise shell pickguard. Seemed ok but I always get fooled by the perfect accoustics in the shop. Wanted to hear another opinion.
