Hey guys! I'm here to seek help regarding this beautiful Strat I'm planning to buy.
It's an MIK Strat (it says so under the "Fender" logo), serial number CN328128. It says "Fender" on the headstock...until you reach the rounded end when it says "Squier Series."

So this makes me wonder about two things: (A) is it more of a Squier than a Fender? and (B) is it a genuine Fender/Squier instrument?

*the fact that it can be either a Fender or a Squier does not really bother me. I'm just really wondering if this thing's for real. I will not spend my money on it if it's a counterfeit. So guys i need your expertise!

If the large Fender logo is black, then it's a Squier. They were made during the mid 90's.

No, the Fender logo is not black. It's a "regularly" colored logo. Take a look at the actual pic of the headstock:

It's legit. I have one that looks just like it except... mine does not say Made In Korea under the word Fender - mine doesn't say made anywhere. Looks like the exact same Fender logo and the serial number looks just the same. Now you have me wondering where mine was made?

By the way, mine's a great Strat that I bought used in the mid 90s, sort of a pale yellow color.

That's it hanging to the right of a MIJ 62 RI Strat. It's more yellow than it appears in the photo. The pickguard and pickups are NOT original, I swapped them in about 10 years ago - saving all the original stuff, of course.

Hey guys! I thank you all so much for your responses.

I never bought the Korean Strat.. But you'll probably be happy to know that I just bought a brand new Standard Tele off of a genuine distributor of Fender products here in the Philippines. It's quite a steal as I got it for only PhP13,000 (which is probably just around US$310).

And although others say their Squiers weren't set-up good at the factory, mine actually was. Even my shredder friend (who owns several Ibanez and a Gibson) told me the action and the neck actually felt good. It's hard to put down!

Cheers to the Squier people!

I hope I am not to late. From the Tony Bacon Squier book it says that it is a made in Korea Squier from 1993 (CN3xxxxx) Silver Series originally made for the export to the UK and Japan. First they were named Squiers in the same letter colour(s) as yours and then Mexico recalled them Fender as yours is now.
