Sounds like a great idea. They could do a YouTube promo of the best Squier player's uploads. Who knows, maybe one will go viral.

Wonder if it should be orignal riffs or covers. I'd be willing to upload an original if Fender protects my ownership. They can use it all they want but I still own it. I did one for Hyundai on that pretense.

It's probably better to copywrite for $30.

Well, YouTube frowns upon unlicensed cover songs and usually ends up pulling them. I know that Myspace will pull your whole web site down for that kind of activity. So I would gamble that Fender would follow the same guidelines.

Fender had a similar contest a while back and I think it had to be original material. It's probably better and more comfortable for beginners to do their own scales rather then try and learn a whole song. You could have fun with a simple blues shuffle and a couple of improvised notes.

It would be cool to see everyone's video from the forum regardless of how good it is. Fender forum and their Fender guitars. How cool is that!

Yeah, but although we can do it Fender can't endorse unlicensed stuff. They would get sued.

Wish Fender would jump in on this idea. It would be a lot of fun.

I'm going to try and do a video and link it to my signature. I think it would be cool if everyone did the same.

Why not have someone at Squeir start reading Squier Message Boards and find prolific posters who are die hard Squier players, who like to mod and have some cool decked out Squiers and contact them and meet. Start collecting information about the ideal Squier. Do a dozen or so interviews and take the most interesting ideas and put them together. Make three of for models from the ideas you collect. Decide on one or two models to release and make an interesting name for it. Community Build or something that would capture the idea that Squier actually took the time to find unknown die hard Squier players... They don't even need to be in a band.. and they don't even need to try to be famous. They just need to represent the average guy who would dig a Squier. Do an ad campaign that centers on how they listen to their customers... and you don't have to be famous to get their ear. Use the names of the people who contributed to a model and make all the people feel good that had a chance to give their input and all the other regular guys would be curious about what the regular guys came up with. I think it would be a huge success. Thus far, I like the non-signature models Squier's the best. I don't need Dinosaur Jr dude on my headstock... lol Perhaps use Steve Jobs line.. Think Different. Squier can do some interesting original guitars if it wanted to. They have in the past. It doesn't have to fit in the Fender box and be a less expensive Stat or Tele or Mustang....Make it unique to Squier and use the component and style suggestions from your regular Joes.

Anyone care to comment on this idea? Squier Mid Management... Are you listening?

TJ

Awesome, I'm inspired to do my first YouTube video if I can ever figure out how to get an account. That modified Squier Strat sounds incredible. Great tone from a good looking guitar!

What happened with "post reply" and "quote"? This forum has changed since I've been away.

Anyway the last post was for Jeffo46. Great guitar playing! I'm inspired to do the same as soon as I get over my cold. (I look like hell)

TJ, I like your idea about a Squier community guitar but I think Brad has been down that road and doesn't seem to want to relive it. (I tried to get him to do a "Fender Lounge" pickguard). Your idea has a better marketing survey approach instead of trying to deal with all the forum members trying to get their ideas across. Whether Fender listens to us or not one of the great things about Squiers is that we can mod them to death.

So lets show them what we've got! Bring on those videos!
