You talk about your Highway 1 as if it is the greatest guitar ever. Well, at the end of the day you are not playing an American series Fender, you're playing a cheaper model. An American Standard is not that much more than a HWY 1 and is going to have far better resale value.

As for Squiers go, some people realize that to jam with friends, or play in their own house just for the pleasure of playing, they don't need to impress anyone. The name on the headstock does not make you a better player.

As said before Squier is owned by Fender. Just like Epiphone is now owned by Gibson, but Les Paul was working for Epiphone when he came up with the log.

I've owned several Fenders, MIM and American Deluxe models. I'll probably wind up buying another American Deluxe when the next models come out. But I'll hang onto my Squiers, for when I go to my friends house and we sit on his patio and play. I don't look down on any player because of what he plays.

As for buying an unplayable guitar, how does that happen? If a guitar does not feel right, I don't buy it. That's why I don't buy guitars through the mail. I like to hold them and get a feel for them, and not have the headache of shipping it back and waiting for another. Sure I buy strings, tuners and things like that through MF all the time. But I've got to hold a guitar to see if I like it, and how the action is.

Somehow I think that Squier will do just fine, despite your lack of promotion. Read some of the reviews in Guitar One or Guitar Player.

You are right, the make or country of origin does not make a great guitar nor makes you a great player. I buy guitars that play and sound good. It just so happens my Highway 1 happens to be fun to play and sounds the best in my collection Are all Highway 1's great, no. I did play some real duds when out shopping. You should always play the guitar before you pay for it.

Wow, this RCB guy is a complete joke, a bottom-tier troll at best, and even that label seems like a compliment. You guys wasted too much time with this sub-creature, he clearly is stubborn beyond comprehension, and is actually so deluded that he actually believes this nonsensical nonsense he's spouting.

The whole Squier vs. Fender thing has long been played out and was pointless since day one. The only "real Fenders" are any guitar that is actually made by Squier or Fender. Squier is owned by Fender anyways, so basically Squier = Fender, just like Epiphone + Gibson. The only reason anyone has to buy some $1-3k guitar is if they're playing huge, volatile gigs or they just have the money to blow, or they're professionally recording in a studio. Even if you're recording in a studio, you don't *need* some $3000 gold-covered Gibson just to sound "acceptable". A large part of the sound you'll get out of a guitar is the pickups and amps anyway.

I never understood such pointless debates. RCB guy over here is harping on about how Squiers are supposedly trash, but then goes on to act as if his HWY1 is the best guitar ever conceived -- you should've known right then and there that this guy was either trolling hardcore or just that deluded.

It's been said before, but it doesn't even matter what guitar you play anyway. As long as it sounds good and feels good to you, that's all that matters. I dare some headstock warrior to try to talk down to me when they see my Squier Strat, they'll get an ear-full and a possible %&*@!-slap. No one likes a snob, besides other fellow snobs.

Also, I saw this question asked about Americans added "s's" to the word "anyway". Well, that's because over here, it's pretty common for people to say "anywayz". No real meaning, just typical modern word modifications. Might seem weird to 'foreigners', I suppose.

I'm still waiting for these pictures we have been promised, but the only thing they are gonna prove is that the guitars have been taken apart and that they are squiers, thats if they ever materialise

The engineer I know uses an old Mexican Strat to play backing tracks for singers all the time. If the tone calls for that sound. The main reason that people buy expensive $3,000.00 plus Gibsons is for the craftsmanship. A Les Paul Custom is totally hand assembled. Or they have a lot of money to spend and have nothing better to do with it. I know a girl in NYC that has a few rather nice Gibsons and a 1971 Fender Strat that she EARNS MONEY with. But she mainly uses an Epi with Gibson pickups in it for when she plays out in bars and clubs.

If you're good enough to be signed and have a few hits and get on a tour you are most likely to pay nothing for your guitar. Or go to a ghost builder like Ed Roman in Las Vegas and have him custom build you a guitar. As in the guitar that Billy Gibbons plays with the ? on the headstock, or the guitars that Jerry Garcia played.

Ever notice that the new Free Credit Score band commercials ALL prominently show the Gibson logo? Think that is by accident? It's to impress the rubes.

Hi this is my first post in the Squier section, I own USA, Mexican, Korean and chinese fenders, I've got to admit I love my USA strat but I still play my squiers. Hell for the price and quality of the classic vibes you can't go wrong.

I just traded an Epi Casino for Squier CVC Tele, and can't believe the quality of the Squier - much better build quality than the Epi. The CVC was supposed to be my backup guitar for my Music Man Silhouette Special, but I'm having a hard time putting the CVC down.

Sorry, been busy. I'd rather play my Hwy 1 than argue about Squiers. However, it's important people who come here get all sides of the Fender v. Squier story. So, I'll get to those photos when I have the time -- we'll get back to this discussion soon!
