I dont see the point for budding guitarists of a certain level in buying a Squier guitar, surely you would wait untill you can afford a 'real' Fender instead of a cheap shoddy made alternative.

I'd just say that I'm not sure what your comparison is based on but not all Squiers are "cheap shoddy made alternatives."

I have 2 Musicmaster basses, one Squier and one Fender, and in many ways the Squier was actually built better than the Fender. For example, the Squier came with the Vista Tone 4 magnet pup where the Fender originally had a Strat pickup, and the Squier has a string through body bridge for better tone/sustain.

And in the guitar dept, my Squier Standard Strat is every bit as reliable as my Band of Gypsies Fender Strat. The only real improvement of the Fender over the Squier is the Squier only has single coils.

Think what you will, but seems like an over generalization. Buy what you will but a well made Squier can be a good guitar to get someone that's starting out, than they can use the $200 they save on a good tuner, stand, case, etc.

I have a Squier Classic Vibe Custom Telecaster that I would put up against any Mexican made telecaster. It is well built, sounds great and looks better than the ones made in Mexico. Just because it is cheaper doesn't mean it is shoddy. I have a Mexican made Fender Stratocaster that needs new pots. Worst hum of any of my seven guitars.

A Squier is a real Fender by definition.

I don't see the point of brand-new forum members coming to the Squier guitar forum and telling everyone their equipment sucks. :?

Welcome to the forum. Be nice. 8)

I have close to 25 guitars, more than half of them Fenders. I recently purchased a used Squier Affinity because it came with a very nice premium Fender case at a very nice price. I figured the guitar was a freebee (sorta like getting something you didn't especially want in a Happy Meal). It is dark blue. I had a left over mint green pick guard that I put on it, and my wife thinks it's the best looking guitar I have. The workmanship/finish is top notch (maybe the hardware isn't up to Fender MIA standards, but very good none the less). The only thing I don't like is the narrow nut the Affinity has (my fat fingers fault, not the guitars). My opinion, and point to this story, is that unless your good enough to be signing autographs, a Squier is probably as good a guitar as you are a player, and you should be satisfied to own it.

I thought what ype of a question is that. After all the Squier is backed by Fender, that officialy makes it a Fender, IMHO :P

I don't see the point either. I love all the Squiers I have owned. I also would not come onto a Forum designed for Squier players and tell them their gear is shoddy. I believe that people should get a guitar that is affordable for them and be decent enough to make playing enjoyable. Is it going to be the quality of a Custom Shop Master Built guitar; no. But they are good starter and intermediate guitars.

The Guitar does not make the Player and neither does your EGO. A good Player can sound good on Dang near anything and I know a few guys that make their 52 Hotrod Tele's or SRV Strat's sound like Junk.

Talk about a Waste of Money!!! :?

Having started my guitar playing journey on a Harmony Silvertone guitar in 1963 I can honestly say that I would have died for a Squier Tele back then. Too bad they came along 30-40 years too late for me. Of course, now that I'm older I have more than made up for what I didn't have then.

Among others... even got a Squier or two...

I swung through GC today for some strings and a winder. While there, I played an Indonesia Tele with a Bigsby, a MIM Tele, and Squier CV 60's. The Squire had the nicest finger board, the frets on the Indo were sharp and rough edged, and the MiM was just sorta somewhere in the middle.
For us entry level/ noodling a while folks, Squier represents decent instruments of iconic types for reasonable amounts of hard-earned.
I have owned a Gibson The Paul, and an Ovation Custom Balladeer in the past, and am sorry I had to let them go, but in no way am I ashamed to own a Squier SE Strat for my re-entry to playing axe. The price was affordable for me, and it does what I need to move along the path to playing better.

To say a Squier isn't a Fender is like saying a Buick isnt a GM, wrongggggg bubba

So I'm still new around this board. That was plane rude. I've been playing for 30 years now and I am looking at buying the Squier Classic Vibe Tele pine body. I've had a lot of "nice" guitars and still have a few. I'm a \m/ player at heart, but I wanted to check out a tele style guitar for noodling around. They are great guits for the price IMHO. Thanks.

This guy is what is commonly known on forums as a " troll ". Trolls wander here and there, posting flaming comments in an attempt to get guys " riled " up.
They don't have any knowledge about what they speak of and, in all honesty, probably don't even play guitar.
No sense in wasting your time arguing with them because that is exactly what they want.
