I do extreme tremolo stuff on the Standard, and I've had no tuning problems.

The bridge is set 1/8" above the body for a 1-step pull-up. I'm using GHS .009 Boomers and 2 tremolo springs - Squier's stock setup w/ the springs on the 1 & 6 holes on the block; 2 & 4 hooks on the claw.

Stock nut - PVC is a very hard material w/ high tensile strength. Stock trees, too - w/ a dab of grease under the butterfly wings.

Thanks, Hiker.

In fact, I'm so enthusiastic about the Squier standard strat after having it for @ a month that I'm planning to get one of the new deluxes that were just released in September. They have Duncan Designed pickups, maple fretboards(a strat MUST-HAVE IMO) and come in pearl white or daphne blue.

They also have the 2-point tremolo. These babies really stay in tune. I usually rotate my guitars and try not to play the same one two days in a row. This was pretty tough to stick with when I first got the strat, btw. Every time I pick up the strat, it's in tune.

Maybe I was just lucky but my 2003 Squier Affinity Strat stays in tune perfectly, has great action and the sunburst finsish is the eqaul of most Fenders and far surpasses the later Squier SB finishes.

I am new to Fender Guitars my daughter just bought me a Squire Strat by affinity? Its Red with single pickups. When I got it home from the pawn shop I set it up (all the pickups were screwed all the way down into the pickguard and I replaced all the strings with nickel wound flats. After much messing with this guitar it now sounds as good as the $1500.00 Strat I played at the guitar store the other day. I think its a great guitar

the squier standard blows the affinity away in sound, feel, looks and everyway possible.i have the 1 with flamed top which they call a squier deluxe, but it says standard on the headstock and its 50$more than the normal standard its just a standard with flamed top and pearloid pickguard.i also have squier deluxe with the duncan desighned hot rails the white one,it doesnt say standard on the headstock but it is the same guitar. i have played many standards 2007 models with the 22med.jumbo frets and same body size as reg fender strat.the standards are excellent guitars ,the necks are amazing the fret jobs on mine is perfect nice n smooth no rough edges. i replaced the pots in mine with normal sized250k cts pots and switch and put duncanJB Humbucker in bridge on both and rewired with normal sized wire 18to24 guage is fine. i also own american deluxe fender and american series strats and a standard(MIM) the squire standards (IMHO)are better than the(MIM)standard the necks are perfect size 1.650(42mm) at nut compaired to american(43mm) at nut.the squier standards are good stock for 200$ they r the best guitar made period.go to music store and compare a squier standard against any strat,am.fender or standard(MIM) or any strat and see for yourself.forget what it says on headstock. and i guarentee u will buy the standard squier.i love my americans but the new squier standards cant be beat for the money.and if u gut it and put new pots, switch and pups as i did theres no reason to buy anything else! BUY THE WAY the pups in the squier arent bad at all, trust me. 2squier standards or 1 mexican.they play great period!
