Does the Affinity Strat have hotter pickups than the Standard?

My Affinity seems to have more output at same volume settings.

Could it be that Affinity has ceramic magnets vs alnico?

I have an Affinity Series Strat with a humbucker in the bridge and the humbucker sounds dirty, I really regret buying the guitar with the humbucker option...

I have one of each and I changed the pups in them both. My Affinity is SSH and the Standard is SSS. I got all the pups from Guitar Fetish. The Affinity with the smaller neck and thinner body is easier to play and with the bucker is a screamer, but the Standard has the Strat tone( thanks to the PU mod ) and feels heftier and not so toy like.

Hey there,

I had a friend buy an Affinity strat a couple years ago, and although the neck is very fast and it sounded pretty good through an amp, it would not stay in tune for the length of one three-minute song. My friend put .11's on it and waited overnight to let the strings stretch out, only to get the same results. If you are buying your first guitar, I would suggest "staying-in-tune" to be your first priority when you pick one out. Who knows, maybe my friend picked out a bad one, but just be careful.

i own a 2005 squier standard strat in a satin transparent amber finish it has alinco's but i think that a squier is a squier and there is no major difference between affinty and standard although they may have ceramic pick ups

I have a affinty and it sounds great and plays well. As well as any usa strat i've played. I have no trouble with it staying in tune. The only problem I have with it is the 5 way. That can be fised easily.
I did put a bone nut on it.

I have a Standard - candy apple red w/ maple fingerboard. It stays in tune about as well as my '51 w/ a Kahler locking system(beautifully). I'd go the extra - what - $40? - and get the Standard for that reason. Besides - it's really the closer of the two to an actual Fender strat w/ the full-size body and 22 frets. I'm using strings I'd already prepped to use w/ the Kahler(plain ends tinned w/ solder). I suspect this trick would help any trem user.

I replaced my pickups w/ GFS '70's overwound greybottoms. GuitarFetish has really great products at great prices. A balanced strat set is @ $70!

Because it has the PERFECT C-shape!! only better neck I've played is a '57 V-Shape.

I think that problem is related more to the floating bridge. I added a spring and put the brige flush with the body, and stays in tune MUCH better. I also hardly ever use my trem, so if he does then maybe that's not an option for him.
