Hi I bought a second hand Squier CV 50's Tele off of the internet and it just arrived a few days ago. :D

However I have noticed that the volume knob is raised higher than the tone knob. Is this normal? :?

And also, something is grinding under the tone knob when i turn it.
Therefore, I would like to take the knobs off and put thme back on, after I clean out the crumbs or whatever's under the tone knob.
So my question is how do you get the knobs off and back on?

Also, the previous owner has kindly left some smudges on the crome neckplate, bridge, and control plate which just won't come off! Any suggestions?

I think the knobs on your Classic Vibe Tele can be prised off and pushed back on as there are no screws - be careful how and what you prise them off with - if they don't seem to want to move don't force them and if you're really unsure take the tele into your local guitar store and ask someone who looks wise and helpful. As regards the marks on chrome work, try some WD40 or 3in1 oil sparingly on a cloth, rub in gently for ages then wipe off - make sure not to get any oil anywhere else. Get a good guitar polish
KYSER DR.STRINGFELLOW for example and give the whole guitar a good clean after you've done. Good Luck, Cliff. Hanson. (U.K.)

Hi Ryan, further to my feelings that the knobs on your Classic Vibe Squire Tele could be prised off, well they can - just done it on mine. Use a flat blade small/medium screwdriver, some thin cardboard or a cloth as protection for the body and the chrome control plate and the rubber handle of some pliers, cutters or the like as a fulcrum for leverage. Prise gently from various points, it WILL come up, but may be a bit stiff - so be patient. The knobs appear to be metal, but have a plastic insert, I guess that wouldn't take too much punishment - hey the thing's made in China, what more can I say. All said and done though not a bad instrument for the money, plenty of people have used the cheaper versions of the real deal over the years - I think I read somewhere that Jeff Healey used Squire Strats, but probably had better pick-ups installed. anyway good luck with the work on your Tele.
