It's a Standard. The affinity has a 6-point tremolo and the Standard has a 2-point.

Why be ashamed of the Squier name?
You have a Squier Standard. They are great intermediate level guitars.
There is a big difference between the Squier Bullet and Affinity lines when compared to the Squier Standard products. My son has a black China built Squier Stratocaster Standard. We picked it up a few years old and very cheap on eBay with a quality hard case included - almost half the price of a new Squier Bullet Strat by itself.
It looks plays and sounds awesome.
I am not so sure about the idea of putting a Fender decal on a good Squier guitar.
Maybe some of the lower range Squier models are even cheapening the reputation of the Squier brand. Maybe a few more of the lower lines should be pushed into the Starcarster brand or better differentiate the higher quality Squier models. Keep the Squier brand for the "Standard", "Classic Vibe" and "Vintage Modified" lines (sorry I don't mean to put off the Affinity lovers).
Squier Stratocaster Standard - a great package. Long live the good quality Squier lines.. and may the Squier reputation grow off the back of these instruments.

Nice! I found one for way CHEAP. If I get it then I was thinking about putting a RS Guitarworks upgrade kit in it just for fun. I will obviously post pics and such if I get it. Thanks for the info.

I got this 2008 model a few weeks ago from some high school kid who was looking for something different. I traded a ESP LTD M-15 to him for it, and I'm glad that I did. This guitar blows away the ESP in spades and is much more versatile. Reminds me of my old 2006 MIM Fender Standard which I gave to my best friend last year. It has a classic tone just like my 2006 USA made, commemorative 60th Anniversary Strat which has 57/62 pups, but the only thing I don't like are the tone pots which I feel are too trebly. I have some Fender Capacitors on order from Musician's Friend, which I'll install on them, when they come in this week. That'll make a huge difference hopefully, if not, then I'll get 2 new Fender 250 K pots.

beautiful guitar there mister.i own a 98 affinity strat that was crafted in indonesia.mine is a dark blue color with a white pick-guard.i've had absolutly NO PROBLEMS with mine.my single coil pups put out that SIXTIES sound that i LOVE.good luck with your mods.

I said to hell with it and finally " Fenderized " my Squier Standard . I put in a Fender " F " plate on the back heel and a Fender USA Strat waterslide decal on the headstock. Dammit, the devil made me do it, LOL !

I hear ya, just do us all a favor. somewhere, maybe under the pick guard, put a sticker that tells what parts are in it and that it's a Squire. Otherwise, if you have to sell it later on down the line there wont be a bunch of threads asking us if it's real. I know that you won't sell it as a Fender but that doesn't mean the next guy wont.
