Hello -

I have a fender affinity-series telecaster. Its a nice little back-up guitar, but I am not happy with the standard pickups.

I am interested in replacing the standard pickups with Fender Noiseless Telecaster Pickups (Model 099-2116-000). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002E3D6W

I am looking for some advice for someone who has more experience with the affinity telecasters:

- Can the affinity guitar pickups be replaced with nicer Fender pickups, such as the noiseless pickups?

- If so, does anyone have any lessons learned to help have a better install (e.g., special considerations for shielding, etc)?

Thank You,
Doug

Read my post here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=56646

The pickups I used are deeper than the stock pickups and I had no problems.

I have an affinity tele and I bought first the nocaster pickups than the guitar hehe... i installed them with a guide that I found on seymour duncan's site... works perfect and sound really great... I'm about to change the pots, I read it really improved the sound...

Shielding is not a big deal with the noiseless p/u's But still not a bad idea. It is important to upgrade the pots, capacitor, and switch. I suggest using CTS. you can find upgrade kits on ebay rather cheap. I think you need 500k pots instead of 250k for the noiseless. The next popular upgrade on an Afinity is the nut. But it's not a diy job

Not necessarily true.

The Fender Vintage noiseless and SCN pickups use 250K pots as do the GFS noiseless pickups in my Affinity and the Seymor Duncan Vintage Stack pickups in my AVRI 52 Tele. Other manufacturers may call for different values. Read the specs that the manufacturer calls for instead of relying on general statements of non-fact.

I have no interest in wading through 13 pages of search results for a topic that I understand very well. I suggest you reread my post and try to understand what I said.
