but, i'll go for it anyway.
I have a really quite modified Strat a while ago made a discovery about a mod i made a very long time ago.
Basically, i changed the pickups to H-S-H and even the single was too big for the standard pickguard. So i went to make my own pickguard, only when i made the template out of artist's card and put that on temporarily, it became permamnent.
Now, it raised some eyebrows among non guitar players, and when I revealed it at music college, it was the talk of the town, along with it being haggard as hell.
So anyway, what I found out was, because the card is flexible, it reverberates like an acoustic, so when it isn't plugged in it proper loud because it's like a soundbox.
Crazy huh. I'll post pics and give full specs of the mods and bodges when i can get the photos off my phone, technology is beyond me.
Thanks for your time, and i expect this post to cause a stir like the other ones i've done about modded guitars.
Cheers, Tom.

I think it's 1.2mm, quite stiff.
Came from a sketchbook so i didn't know what else to call it.

If it works, leave it that way. I can't imagine how you can change the pickup hight. The cardboard will warp. Also don't take it out in the rain.:)

Well it's been like this for a long time so it's not gonna change anytime soon. The pickup height is changed by wedging stuff underneath and held in with masking tape, and i wouldn't take any guitar in the rain so no worries. The only downside is it wears out through aggressive picking, on the 4th or 5th, ut easy to replace.
