Hi All,

First post here, I just picked up a candy apple red Squier HH Telecaster from GC.

I can't find ANY info on this guitar on Squier's website, or anywhere else on the net for that matter.

Is this a brand new model?

I would like to know the specs on this one, mostly the body material.

Thanks!

This guitar was a Guitar Center special order item and will be on sale for $89 from Fri-4th of July ! You would have to ask Guitar Center to request the specs. There's been alot of discussion on this model at the squier-talk forum if you want to inquire more.

Just picked up a black one of these today at GC for $89.99, the candy apple red one they had didn't seem to feel as good to me and they only had the two. Great guitar for a cheap freak like me and with a little fine tuning it plays great, super harmonics! Mine has a serial # prefix of CSX which I believe to be made by Axl guitars. Went to get two SD pickups for other guitars and got one SD pickup and this guitar, the guitar was only ten bucks more than the pickup!

Specs (from GC and from personal experience):

Body - Basswood (same width bouts, length, and thickness as Affinity Tele's).
Neck - Maple w/rosewood fretboard (even has a skunk stripe), 4 bolt w/ chrome neck plate.
Frets - 22 typical Squier size.
Pickups - Humbuckers neck 8.06 ohm and bridge 8.45 ohm (bridge PU is ring mounted, neck is mounted in the pickguard and look like the same kind they use in Jackson JS1 dinkys).
Pickguard - Std Tele w/ neck humbucker route, 3 ply B/W/B.
Bridgeplate - chrome short style 6 saddle top load (there are holes in the bridge so it could be made string through with some careful drilling and some Fender Tele string ferrules).
Misc. - chrome tuners (stamped steel cover type w/screw on top of the knob to adjust tightness), chrome domed vol & tone knobs (haven't opened it up to see what size the pots are or capacitor is), and three way switch w/ barrel knob.

I pulled the control plate of mine and found that the +output wire is connected to the tone crossover lug, as opposed to the usual vol output lug, and the tone crossover wire goes to the vol output lug. Unlike any Tele wiring I've ever seen.

I did some searching and did find this "mod" on a website. It's supposedly the way Les Pauls were wired early on (?).

It seems to give a smoother tone character and gives a lot more tone control just by rolling off the volume. I like it :D ! I may have to mod my others.

P.S. It is made by Axl.
