One of my former bandmates who I have been friends with for years, got out of playing and sold all his equipment, except an old yamaha accoustic from the 1960s. In the last year he has filled in for our guitar player. He plays my Strats, Tele's and my Jazzmaster, but has no solid body guitar of his own, so I loan him one of mine.
Well today i went by guitar center for their memorial day sale, just looking. My buddy Mike wants a Telecaster Bad. We were thinking of a good MIM for him in Blue. I found a used Antique Burst Std Squier Tele. for $149.99.....it had one minor dent on the side. I played this Tele thru several Fender amps from solid state to tube. My wife Susan said, "I like the tone of that guitar" Trust me she has bought me several Fenders over the years. I tried calling my buddy who wasn't home, My wife said...Buy it if Mike doesn't like it...YOU keep it. I bought the Tele and a Case. Took it home and did a nice setup on it.....These Std Squiers are NICE guitars....when I got it done and cleaned up it shined and sounded like a much more expensive guitar. Then the phone rang...It was my buddy Mike who I bought the guitar for..told him I had something for him and come over quick, he showed up handed him the Tele and said "It's Yours" and "You Owe Me $149.99" we laughed. He plugged into my Fender Amp and it sounded great. He loved the guitar..that was several hours ago, we just got off the phone and he's still playing it. I was SUPER IMPRESSED with this Telecaster. I have been a Fender Guy for close to 30 years. After setting it up The sound, Fit,Feel , and Finish are top notch....That Tele is a keeper...Gonna buy one for me next week....The lead pickup beats the MIM hands down thru my amps.

Good Job Fender and Squier.

I have Squier stuff from the 1980s, when they were made in Japan...these new ones are very very close....I am happy with the purchase
