1:Headstock has "Fender", then "Squier Series" above it. Does it mean anything? SN: MN544764
2:I wanted to change the pickguard and knobs, possibly the pickups, how should i do it?
It's my first time customizing my guitar and i don't want to mess my guitar up.
Thanks

The Fender "Squier Series" are decent guitars. The rumors are that the bodies and necks were made in in the US and the hardware is imported. Don't know if it's true or not.

To remove the pickguard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du4P7-H19sM

If you are not wanting to do a lot of soldering, you might try a loaded pickguard like one of these: http://www.guitarfetish.com/ALNICO-Pickup-Pre-Wired-Strat-Pickguard-White-MAJOR-Upgrade_p_89.html

One thing to be aware of is that the holes for the new pickguard will rarely match the existing one. So be prepared to redrill a hole or two.

Go to http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... p?t=469741 and you will get the answers you're looking for on the '93-'98 Squier Series Strats. Go to post #11 on that page. You'll be able to do about anything you want as far as pickups go, depending on what your after. The body is routed in the bridge position for a humbucker if you want. Mine's a '94, I've redone all the electronics (including pickups) and a new pickguard. Next some new tuners and I probably won't change the bridge as I have it blocked like a hardtail. With the new pickguard I had to drill some new holes, but no big deal, the guard covers the old ones. The '93's-'98's were some fairly nice guitars, it was just that the electronics and the hardware were kinda crappy. You shouldn't have any problems with upgrades, there's a lot of resource material available in the forums. Just be patient and calculate your moves before you make them. With some basic woodworking, soldering and electronic knowledge, the Strat or Tele is a pretty easy guitar to work on. Good luck!
