Thanks for the tip. I have to hold off, at least for a little while. Yesterday afternoon ordered a Squier Standard Tele, Black metallic, rosewood fretboard to complement my Squire metallic black fat standard tele. I just couldn't help myself!

Nice choice! I just picked up a Squier Black & Chrome Tele to go along with my trio of Fat Teles...though Black Metallic and Candy Apple Red are very temping as well...

Once you try a few MIMs, let me know what you think because most of the MIMs I have played are very comparable to my Squier Teles, so much so that I could not see myself paying extra money just to have a headstock that says Fender, but would be interested in other peoples opinions and impressions of the MIMs...

Got my Squier Standard Tele. Love it!! Feels a touch lighter than my Fat tele. So I weighed it (took guitars on the scale with me. Most of the weight can be attributed to me!) The Standard weights appx. 3/10 of a pound less than my Fat Tele. Neck also feels just a touch slimmer.

One question. How do you adjust the pickup height for bridge pickup. I know that there are 3 screws. One each for bass and treble side adjustments. What about the 3rd "middle" screw? What to do with that? Fender website gives heights for treble and bass side, but what about that "middle screw"?

The middle screw helps set the overall pickup height a bit and also helps keep the pickup level, because if you just adjusted the bass and treble screws, your pickup may end up tilte towards the bridde, and you want the polepieces on the PUs to more or less be parallel with the strings.

I got a Black & Chrome Standard Tele since we last talked, and I like it, but am annoyed that in order to adjust the neck PU height I have would have to take off the pickguard, and have heard that the mirror pickgurad is a bit fragile, so I am a bit worried about doing that. I also picked up a Squier Custom as well, so now I have 5 Squier Teles, and will probably pick up a 6th at some point to do an Esquire coversion on it...

Thanks for the info. on the pick ups. Sounds like I start with the bass and treble sides and then level off at the end with the middle screw.

About the neck pickup. I see I would have to take off the pickguard as well. Looks like I could take it off with strings on and just pass the pickgaurd under the strings. The Fat Tele neck humbucker fortunately adjusts without removal of the pickguard.

Funny thing. I really like GAS!!!! If I only devoted as much time to learning the scales in various neck positions!!

Yeah, thats the way to do the bridge pickup, but after you adjust the middle screw, go back and check the bass and treble screws heights again, because I have occasionally had to re-adjust slightly on either side a slight bit after re-adjusting the middle.

If I had a regular Standard, I wouldn't be worried about removing the pickguard because if something should happen to it, you can find plenty of aftermarket white Tele pickguards. Its the weird mirrored plastic that they use on the Black & Chrome that I don't think is as bendable or forgiving as regular pickguard material.

As far as GAS goes. I do GAS out a bit at times, but then I calm down with the GAS and practice because I realize,"Whats the point of having all this great gear if I can't play it well?"
