Amen to that!....But there's so much more they could do......we've already seen Fender create the "Hot Rodded" series....Strats & Teles that were modded to give super performance, then came the N.O.S.'s and the Closet Classics...(both well received....if not a bit pricey!)...but then came the misguided "Heavy Relic" series....now although I give credit where credit is due, it was a good concept, but I don't think it had merit, I mean if i FOUND a Strat all beat to hell in someone's garage, or in the attic, then it would give credence to the astronomical prices they wanted for them...but these were brand "new" instruments that were machined to look totally wasted?...and they wanted serious coin for them?....if anything I would prefer to buy a new Strat or Tele, and put my OWN history, and tall tales into 'em.....it's sort of like it is now....I can tell you right off the top of my head where every scratch, chip, dent, ding, scar, and blemish came from on ALL my guitars!....what night it was....what song I was playing....the events that led to the "injury" etc....and THAT is the "mojo" that oozes from a guitar when you pick it up in a pawn shop...it's all those stories....of love lost.....battles fought...some lost....some won...the different occasions that brought out joy,....pain.....sadness....excitement....you can feel it the minute you pick the dang thing up! But to have someone try to replicate that and "install" that into an instrument that has never seen a dusty stage....or ridden to a gig on the passenger seat....hmmm....maybe it's me...but I just don't see it!

I lose interest real fast when I see anything over $700. Sorry, I just don't have that kind of money.

IMO the relics should have been lacquered over not left bare. The one I saw looked bare. Wood gets dirty fast without paint. I don't think I would even want to play a guitar that is all torn to shreds. It's just not for me.

They should have spent R&D on an amp that replicates the sound of an old gassy tubed amp that has been in smokey night clubs for years and has that special blues breaker sound that makes you get all choked up every time you hear it.

Ehsaan Noorani Stratocaster looks like a great guitar. I would be happy to own one of those.

I just cannot fathom someone paying that much for a guitar....especially one that's coming already "broken in".....I figure that most of our heroes who have inspired countless generations of kids to begin playing, and who have gone on to successful careers,.....at least some of them anyways....I would imagine that they started out too....on instruments that they could "afford"....I mean Eric Clapton didn't ALWAYS have "Eric Clapton Money"....nor did Jimmy Page.....Pete Townshend...etc...etc. They would have started small, and worked their way up....but even if i DID have money like a member of the Doors...or The Beatles...i STILL wouldn't buy a four or five THOUSAND dollar guitar!....It just wouldn't sit right in my head.....it would bother me all the time. And here's a question: When you DO buy a guitar THAT expensive....do you play it?...or just stare at it from time to time?...because it's a five grand investment that you wouldn't want to damage of scratch in any way!....

Tell that to Lenny Kravitz, I guess he just has the money to burn and realizes you only live once.

Personally, I wouldn't want a guitar I can't mod because I'm too scared it will get ruined or lose it's value.

My point EXACTLY! I feel that even when I buy or get hold of a $500.00 / $750.00 / $800/00 guitar....that it's risky taking it apart and modifying anything.....much less one that costs 5 grand!?...I guess if you DO have money like Lenny Kravitz...or any other famous rock guitar player....then buying a Gibson Les Paul that costs 3 thousand dollars and having the electronics re-wired..and the neck replaced isn't so bad.....but as for me...I'm going to stick with Squier until my hands fall off! Because they have got the "magic formula" that will keep me coming back for more: Excellent Quality Instruments + Low Monetary Pricing + Multiple Options & Colors = One Happy Guitar Player!!! I can spend more time modding my guitars, and tweaking their sounds with my effects....amps...and other "toys"...and worry less about how much of my retirement fund I'll have to touch in order to purchase them!....way to go Squier!...

Not "cheap"... INEXPENSIVE, haha. My VM Telecaster Custom feels better than my MIM standard tele. About 5 years ago I had a squier tele custom and an affinity tele I got from GC for $99. I had to sell both because of hard times but eventually got in good position and have owned several MIM teles since, BUT, I found ONE I liked. But it didn't feel like my custom or affinity. So I got me another custom and will never, ever part with it. Now I'm on a mission to get a blond affinity just like I had a few years back. It was such a fun guitar for me, I may get TWO! I love my MIM, but other than a simple upgrade of the pickup's I won't do any mods to the bodies, but I have a plan to wire the affinity with a p90 in the bridge. It'll be my Squier Esquire LP Junior! A friend of mine did that to his MIM and it sounds fantastic.

HENDRIX, I don't know where you're from but if you come across a blonde affinity, OR Squier Standard on Craigslist or anywhere else for a low price please let me know...
