As long as the sig models are released for bands like sum 41, avril, and fall out boy their brand image wont change. Which is fine by me too.

I agree! I would prefer that Squier stays obscure...and affordable....than for them to suddenly be in the spotlight of the Rich & Famous....and their price shoot upwards!....Guess we'll just have to stay in the underground....(Hey there's a new idea for ya!....the Squier "Underground" series!...LOL!)

I'm starting to get the impression that Fender uses the Squier as a test for their new ideas then quickly start producing them as standards when they see popularity and interest.

Just another of my conspiracy theories. :|

come to think of it it's not much of a conspiracy theory... a good example is the new fender 51 (and i heard they want to make a 72 bass and the vm telebass is from 72 hint hint) ... i just hope they aren't re designing the jazzmaster and the jaguar... i think that they overdid the new line putting strat jacks... don't mind the bridge though (i do prefer the original)... we could be playing some prototypes in our hands without knowing cause they sell them for cheap prices... i find the theory interessting

I don't doubt your theories in the least!....It's what ANY good business model would do.....put something out there....see if the public grabs on...and if it does.....move it up a notch by doing the "Custom Shop" versions....or the "Signature Series"......it's like I said before....that new Fender looks dreadfully similar to the Squier '51 that ceased production a few years back....coincidence?...I think not!

but i think that's what i'm saying... squier is suposedly testing the guitars and moving up the ones that get more attention to fender... though i may have overreacted to the whole jazzmaster deal ;) i just ranted out the strat jack thing again i really hate what they did on that guitar

Well, we have to take the good with the bad and make it better. Let's face it we are getting some nice guitars at rock bottom prices. We wouldn't lose much modifying them.
Fill a hole here drill one there, change some pickups. That's where the fun is.

Let's start dreaming guys,

One of the best things about the Squiers is that you can buy a 50's Classic Vibe Tele for instance, and NOT have to MOD it. There are many reasons in it self to buy one of these, and with it being stock, it's still plays just as sweet (and looks better) than my MIM standard tele, for almost $150 less. My Vintage Modified Custom Tele also is another example. I love my p90's! But even still I think the affinity series is a great deal if you get a chance to play it in stores and find one that works for you (In my experience with them, it's been hit or miss)... and use that as a MOD platform. I found a white squier tele at guitar center a few years back for $99 and didn't think twice about it... I had no problem at that price point at gutting that guitar apart and either doing some routing or anything else for that matter. I've always thought it would be cool for Squier to sell "blanks"..that would be just a neck/body combo and let you add your own hardware, pickups, pickguard, etc.... It would TRULY be vintage modified! But I guess I could go to warmoth and do that for several hundred dollars. The Squier price point would be more in my interest though.

Putting a guitar together from scratch is not a whole lot of fun unless you've done it a couple of times and Warmoth prices are way to exorbitant. Squier is giving you a guitar that is ready to play, take it apart and put it back together it still plays. It's a good beginner experience in modding and you've already got a bunch or parts that add up like knobs, pickguards, tuners, electronics.

Remember our main goal is to play these guitars not to leave them laying around in parts :D .

@ RalfCaetano: I agree with you, that's EXACTLY what Squier is doing...but not with ALL their models....just the ones we (The Public) clamor for....like the '51...and some of the others....notice the Avril L. Tele hasn't moved to a "Fender Signature" model?...not much desire from it...(at least not in my neck of the woods...I'm sure there are female players out there who want / have one!) As for the Strat jack issue, it's just a personal preference for some people...I for one like it better as opposed to one that lays "flat" on the fron of the guitar....I find I can move around better with the cable & jack always in view out of the corner of my eye. And it's like some of the others have said, you can always change things around to how you want them to be...(a.k.a. TRUE "customization"!)..LoL!

@MustangToo: You're absolutely right! Where ELSE can you get a "decent" Strat ot Tele, with all KINDS of "tweaks" on them at THESE prices? It's almost too good to be true sometimes!

@PraterKeith: I agree with you on that!...Although I'm going to say that when it comes to the Affinity series...I must have lucked out THREE times in a row! My Tele...(Butterscotch "Special") plays PERFECTLY...the only modding I did was to change the pickups for some Seymour Duncans...other than that it's all stock. The same with my Affinity Strat.(Brown Sunburst / maple neck)....just changed the pickups and the color of the pickguard...but everything else is stock..and it plays like "buttah"!....And finally there's a Jazz Bass I got when they first hit the streets (Metallic Blue with rosewood neck) the only thing I've changed on THAT one is just the knobs!...everything else is what came from the factory..and to this day sometimes I'll bring it over to my friends studio...and he tells me that it sounds AWESOME...(he offered to buy it from me for the price of a REAL jazz bass!) So I guess it all depends on what you're looking for, and what your cash flow looks like...but for my money there is NO other guitar company out there that does what Squier does as well as Squier DOES it!...LoL!

@MustangToo: I'm in TOTAL agreement with you on that one!...I don't think I could do a better job of putting a guitar together than the people who do it DAILY! And I feel that the ONLY reason for taking a tool to a guitar it to enhance it's sound...or playability...other than that ALL guitars are built for playing...and not sitting around in a display case...like a prize buck shot during hunting season!...(I HATE reading about these so-called "collectors" who don't even PLAY!....they just buy these guitars that have so much life left in 'em...and so much magic....dripping with "Mojo"...and then they hang them in a humidified room behind some glass case....showing them off like they're the Queen's jewels from England or something!....Grrr!.....Sorry guys didn't mean to get all worked up!...gonna go blast my Tele through my fuzz pedal and my Blues Junior!....!

Eddie Hendrix, is that the aniversary edition? I was in love with that guitar. It had an alder body. I think the one I saw had a tortoiseshell pickguard. That's another Squier that looked too good not to be a standard strat. Wonder what Fender was up to.

Very cool 8)

MustangToo: I don't think it's an Anniversary edition model....it's just an Affinity Strat labeled a "Special" edition because of the maple neck on a Strat?....it DOES look a lot classier than it costs...and I daresay....that when this neck goes...(this is still the original one....but it's getting to the point where I'm going to have to replace it...and like...soon!) I'll probably get a "Pre-CBS" headstock neck....and tell everyone it's something that I found in my attic...LOL!....(JK!....would NEVER fraudulate the music playing community!...) But I love these guitars more for their "lives"...that they have....it seems that when I pick one of them up....I "feel" the amp that needs to be powered up....and I can mentally "see" the pedals that are supposed to connect to this instrument...and to me...that's REAL magic!!!.....so let those music snobs who HAVE to have "name brand" items go about their business....I'll stick with Squier till I die!.....and I'm seriously going to submit the "Underground Series" to the folks at Squier....who knows?...maybe it'll be the 2012 / 2013 model that everyone has to have?...

Maybe they could sent you a prototype to test out. haha... but seriously, that's awesome, you guys had some awesome ideas with the undergound series, and the amp ideas. Hopefully this dream will come true!
