This version of the Jazzmaster has to be the best valued purchase I have made in quite some time. To preface I have been playing for close to 30 years and have owned in excess of 100 guitars in that time...everything from a Gibson LesPaul custom, PRS, Signature strats (John Mayer) etc.

The Jazzmasters construction for the dollar is insane. The neck on mine has some nice flaming in the maple, the finish color is beautiful, the frets are polised, which is something I have to do myself on almost every guitar I buy. The body is 3 piece and the finish, looks like it could be on a guitar 3 times the price. The duncan designed pick-ups deliver the jangly jazzmaster tone through my vox AC-15. I LOVE the 10 stepped tone controls for each pick up, incredible variations in sound. This was one of my concerns...having sold my japanese block neck jag and kicked myself in the $@! since, I was looking for something in the offset design. I felt the lack of controls might not have delivered the goods, but this set up rocks!

I can say the fit and finish on this Jazzmaster is as good as the MIJ Jaguar!

The shortcomings.... the bridge and saddles, do the job, but are very basic and cheaply chrome plated. The volume control on the neck pick up is a little bit sticky in one spot. THAT ALL, nothing else to say.

Anyone contemplating the purchase, run out and buy one. I can't say enough good about mine. I bet in 20 to 30 years these production runs of late will be the next JV, SQ and vista collectables. :D

HNGD! I recently purchased the BSB version. I did make a slight mod to mine.

Added a AVRI tremolo & a Warmoth modified Mustang Bridge.

Really Cool, Did the bridge fit in the same screw holes? If so that is awesome, I am not sure I am adventerous to install the tremolo, but might add a Bigsby :D

Does anyone know where you can get pickguards for this model? I would love to get either a gold or tortiose shell.

Gotta love these low cost guitars, you can tweak them to your liking and not break the bank or ruin a classic.

The holes were about 1/16" to far apart. What I did was drill them to be the correct size (3/8") and then used a file to slightly move the hole closest to the Low E string over about a 1/16". I put a small shim next to the post to make sure it fit tight in the hole. I probably should have moved the other post over, since the high e is a little closer to the edge of the fretboard than I would like it to be.

At some point I may plug the holes and redrill, but they way I did it was easier and it works. :)

I would like to find a new pickguard as well. So far all I have been able to find has been custom made ones which cost around $50

I've thought about painting it (however the BSB has grown on me) and if I do I would probably fill the jack. The body is routed like a standard Jazzmaster so I could move the output jack the standard location.

Would also re-wire to have standard Jazzmaster controls.
