Don't worry about what it will be worth, just play it!

A lot of the collector types feel that most Squiers will not get much value over the years, but thats the thing about the collectors market, you cannot always predict what will be the next hot collectors item. Just play it, and don't worry about what its worth, its not a stock or bond, its a guitar.

Yea, I'm sure back in the 60's they though that the Danelectro's were not worth a dam..............try to get a 60's vintage Danelectro now on Ebay!!

if you're just starting to learn it'll be valuable.

i've heard a lot of people say that Fenders/Squiers are easy to learn on because of the neck.

i tried a Telecaster [i have a Epiphone] and i found out it was much easier to switch chords. idk why but it was. 8)

i'm probably getting a Tele next...

I have the same thing and no-it isn't really worth much because it is mostly known as an entry level guitar. Also when it is a strat by squier people seem to belittle them.

The Gibson Melody Makers were beginner guitars when they first came out. And same as the Danelectros try buying one now.

Yes, but you cannot predict that kind of stuff. If you told someone back in the day what those would get now, they would think you spent too much time smoking wacky tobacky. So I just say play it, because while those 2 models you mention are quite collectible these days, just think of the hundreds of other models and brands that have come out in that "beginner" price bracket that aren't worth anything...

If you keep any guitar long enough, it'll either hold it's value or increase in value. By how much, I don't know. I bought a squier jazz bass in 1985 for $249.00, now I could probably get around $400 - $500 for it. I had a '57 P-bass reissue I bought for $568.00 in 1984 and sold it for $810 just two years ago. Keep playing that squier strat. you never know Just take good care of it because that is the key to a guitar holding or increasing it's value. Also, If you modify it, keep all of the original parts and return it to original condition before trying to sell it. I lost money on a Melody Maker because I thought I was hot rodding it up to play better. I was told that I actually caused it to go down in value. by hopping it up.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
This is my first post...but also wanted to add......if you keep the guitar in great condition and playable you never know what the demand may be later down the road......example: In 1989 I purchased a Fender Squire Strat II....i cant remember what the exact price was at the time Im thinkin right around 199.00 or so...too long ago...lol
anyway...now I can get rid of this for around $300.00...or slightly more....one thing is it is in almost mint condition..that helps...so as i stated above...you just never know, however, dont expect to double your money anytime soon.
upgrades also help...as long they are done professionally.
Hope this helps
GG

leave everything in the box so it stays in mint condition and seal the box in heavy duty plastic, store the box in a cool dry place with minimal temperture changes, return to the dry sealed box in about 50 years and put the guitar and box on ebay, you will make money,

good luck
