This is my Squier Strat...

I would like to put a maple neck on it and then a black pickguard. I've checked out several auction sites and cannot find a Squier Maple Neck anywhere. Does anyone know where I could get one?

I found one on eBay! Now all I need to is win the auction :-)

Fortunately I have an excellent local Guitar Store who can set it up for me, I have a black pickguard to fit so who needs David Gilmour's new Strat :-)

(I do)

I'll let you know if I win...

If it were mine I don't think I would change a thing. It looks too cool the way it is. Very unique and it may be rare.

Ebay is a good source, but just keep in mind that some of the measurements for hole spacing may vary on some Squier years of production and models, so just be prepared if you have to drill your own holes, or it you have to try a couple of different necks to get a good fit.

Well... I won the neck....and thank you for your replies...

Here it is:

It has yet to arrive so I'll keep posted as to how the set up goes...

The serial number is S988110 which I think puts it at late 70s early 80s although the seller said it was 90s....

Jeffo

Thanks for that information... Do you know why the Squier name had a II after it?

The new maple neck has arrived and it is better than described on eBay! Visually it looks to be an exact fit but the guitar store will let me know if it isn't...

The headstock is slighly smaller than the original one but that's about the only difference...

Once I get it back I'll post some pictures....

Ok... so here she is:

The neck is early 90s and has a slightly smaller headstock than the later ones....

And even though there were some issues setting it up it now plays perfectle with an excellent action and perfect intonation. The pickguard had a spray of black paint and that's it!
