Does anyone know what the Fender part # is for a replacement tremolo bar for a circa 1984-87 Squire Strat made in Japan? It has a vintage synchronized tremolo bridge. I bought a replacement one at Guitar Center, but the thread seems loose, although it will screw in. I read that the thread size on the American Original and American Standard strat tremolo bar is 10-32, but the Mexican is 10-24. Is this the same for the Japanese?

I found this at Fender.com: http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0041359000

I don't know about your Squier, but many Fender parts do not fit into Squier stuff as easily as you may think or hope it would. A lot of the Squier stuff has different spacing or measurements compared to the Fender stuff. If its just the trem arm, I would just experiment with different arms, because the trem arm doesn't necessarily have to be a Squier or Fender brand arm.

Yes, I read somewhere today that I could probably wrap some teflon tape used for plumbing around the threads of the tremolo arm I bought and be good with that. If I can't find a good match, I'll have to try that since this bar swings pretty loosely and hangs down/flops around when the guitar is moved.

I'm in the same situation. E7..... serial number Squier Strat MIJ. Either my whammy bar is getting worn out or the block is. I think it's a little bit of both. I'd like to get a new bar. Any ideas on how to find one??

Luckily, I visit Japan sometimes, and will probably look for a whammy on a new one there next time, but there has to be a better way! It measures 4mm diameter on the threads part, and the new MIM, and USA whammy bars do not fit. USA is too small.. and I think so was the MIM.
