Really? I love the tuners! I love the vintage style tuners. Both on the CV 60's Strat as well as on my CV Tele Custom, the tuners have stayed in tune perfectly. I also have owned a Kenny Wayne Shepherd Signature strat and it had vintage tuners, the tuners on that $900 guitar felt the same as the ones on my CV's.

As far as the action, I put 10's on the Tele and lowered the action. The frets on the neck are set so perfectly that I was able to get the action lower than I can ever remember having the action on any guitar I have ever owned.

I have not felt a neck that is this perfect on any instrument that I have ever owned. The neck on my strat is equally amazing. I am assuming that the plant that manufactures these things has seriously upgraded and changed their methods.

These guitars are absolutely 'next level' guitars.

You guys convinced me to go check these things out. But I'll be armed with a couple hex wrenches and a screw driver as Guitar Center is notorious for just thowing guitars on the wall without setting them up....be it a $50 used guitar or $5000 custom. A little tweeking (or a lot) will make a huge difference. It sounds to me like they made big improvements in the pickups, which are (sorry guys) total crap on my 20th anniversary affinity strat hss.

Mess around with the middle pickup. I am getting some amazing tone from it. In fact, for the last few weeks, my guitar has been set to the middle setting pretty darn exclusively. You can get a smooth sound with the volume rolled off, or one of the greatest overdriven sounds when you crank it up a bit. It is the most versatile and powerful sounding middle pickup that I have ever used.

I would be sorely surprised if you are not thrilled with your new CV Strat. I just bought one, along with 2 other Squier Strats, and I have not picked up my Les Paul since getting it.
The reviews and everything you read here are not hype, it is the truth. I have played for over 30 years, owned countless guitars, including USA Fender and G&L Strats, and I am as happy with my CV 60s as I have been with any Strat.
If I had any complaint about it it would be that they may have went a little to heavy with the lacquer on the neck. I feel that it slows me down some. I am going to give it some time and see if I adjust to it. If not, I will just take a scotchbrite pad to the back of the neck and that will do the trick.

i like the look of the neck, instead of the "naked" look of some squiers. the necks feels high quality, but ive also heard that before that the neck pending personal taste may need some sanding/scotchbrite,etc.. im just starting out , so when i read countless reviews that this guitar is a blast to play and is being picked up more then some higher dollar guitars in peoples collections, that was all i needed to hear, cant wait to finally get it! got any pics of yours?

Thanks man ! I actually am thinking about adding something with a rosewood board. My plan right now is to buy a CV 60s neck with rosewood board and put it on my '95 Korean. I think it would look pretty cool with all black.
I also agree with Jeffo that the CV series feel superior to any of the MIM that I have owned and played. I truely believe that CVs are the best bargains in guitars right now.

as you can see i have the cv50's i have had a couple of affinitys when i first started out playing but this badboy is just amazing for the price, i was thinking of going for a fender but with my budget it would have been a mexican and probably with ceramic pups, then i saw the cv's had alnicos in them and they were cheaper so i went down to my local fender dealer had a good look and play with one, they only had a 60's but i knew i wanted the olympic white with gold brushed ally scratchplate (seeing as i cant afford a fender gilmour replica, and this looks like his 0001) so i went on ebay and someone was selling one secondhand for £200 so i ripped his virtual hand off paid the money and run. I am thinking of copper lining the guitar and maybe upgrading the pups at somepoint but the pups are not being done in the near future as she sounds fine just as she is for now

I have been gigging with my Classic Vibe Tele for about a year and a half, and get compliments on how it sounds all the time.

The best part is that I only paid $78 for it :!: :D

I had seen it at Guitar Center and it had been dropped a number of times (fallen out of the guitar tree that it was hanging in. I put a rediculous offer out there, thinking I'd just use it with and for a few of my students, and they took it.

After playing it around the house for awhile I fell in love with it and decided to start gigging with it. And the best part is that the other guitar player in my band has a nice American made Tele, and he still prefers the sound of mine

Other than removing the pickguard to reduce the static "pops & clicks" and carving the number 78 in it (reminding myself that I don't need to spend a ton of $$$ to get a great sound) I haven't done ANYTHING to this guitar. Still stock and still lovin' her.

Here's pic of the girls (the only 2 guitars I take to gigs). One is my CV Tele and the other is the Mustang Special I modded out.

When I bought my CV Strat I had a MIM Strat also. I had been talking to a friend that owns a small music shop, and no he does not sell Fender or Squier (You have to carry Fender to carry Squier) and he had told me that a guy had come in to have one of these set up and the strings changed. After he left Todd did the set up, and put some Elixers on it and started playing around with it. He said that it was a pretty amazing guitar. Then he looked up the price of it online. I had stopped in a few days later to get some strings and I saw it and he told me that it was a really good guitar. The next week I was in GC to look at a Ovation 12 string and I saw that they had one used. So I plugged it into a Champ, played around and left with it.

I sold the MIM strat to a friend of mine and got enough to buy a Champ, and an SKB hard case. He's happy and I am happy.

Seriously it is a great guitar, and the neck is just amazing. Plug it into something like a Champ, or a tube amp and you can really get it to sing for you.

sexygibson i must say something but please dont get offended, but your cv looks like a 50's not a 60's lake placid blue with a maple neck is 50's, the 60's have a rosewood neck.

ok i am gonna run before you swing at me haha

When I am thinking about buying a guitar there is a small music shop I go to that does mainly repair work, and they sell Taylor, Breedlove, Martin, Godin Seagull, etc and some used electrics. They mainly sell high end acoustics though and low range starters.

The guy that owns it is really knowledgeable. My teacher introduced me to him, and he is friends with my wife's ex who is an engineer and plays professionally. I told him I was going to get a Les Paul Studio, and he told me to bring it over after I bought it so he could check it out. He said, if it is a mess you can return it right away. He said that there are a lot of dogs out there. He also wanted to see if it had ever had a neck repair done. Then he said "Don't buy it if it does not come with a Gibson case!" He is a Gibson authorized repair center and stocks Gibson replacement parts. So I did. He looked it over, changed the strings set the intonation and I bought a set of Schallers off him. Even though I paid $2.00 more for the strings and $5.00 more for the Schallers, I knew that since he did not have a guitar like this to sell himself, he would give me an honest opinion.

When I wanted to hear what he had to say about the CV, he told me that it is not quite as good as a Mexican, but he has had a few in for set ups and minor repairs and he said that they came as close to the classic strat tone as you are ever going to get and that "If you can live with the Squier name rather than the Fender name, then go for it. It's a very good guitar for the money."

If you want to know about guitars ask a luthier, they've probably repaired all of them at one time or another.
