These are know as the Traditional Series stratocasters and had the black Fender label and single-ply pickguards and the Squier Series emblem on the nose of the headstock. They had import spaced string spacing and import sized trem arms, try a 5mm machine screw (long) and see if that is the thread size. Hope this helps. As far as those being made in the US, some say that, but in actuality they are made by a CNC machine, no matter where the machine was located. Nice guitars I have a Fender MN6*serial of a similar build. Enjoy it~!

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... p?t=469741 This should get you to a thread that explains the details of the "Black Label" Mexican Strat. Blueshawk's post is #11 and gives all the info. I don't have any knowledge of the Asian guitar, but the '94 Mexicaster is worth upgrading. Have fun! Update: I just found the same article in this forum "Squire Made in Mexico in 90" by satch24. If the link doesn't work for some reason.

I also have a Fender Stratocaster not Squire but the serial number is ic050657169 which does not tie into the indonseian cort factory serial number sequence. So not sure where this model was made it says on the head stock Fender Stratocaster and it's a HSS model in a dark grey.

Actually the serial is just right for an Indonesian Cort made Squier - that's the same reply you got on the Strat section.
My best guess (without pics...) is it's a 2005 Squier Fat Strat, Standard series, in Pewter. Should have a solid agathis body.

And as a IMHO/BTW, there's nothing wrong with IC Standard Squiers unless you paid a Fender price.
