Hello everyone, Last year a few days after i bought my deluxe ash stratocaster, a friend brought over a black squier stratocaster made in mid -late 80's (i believe) it's korean made and has the licensed floyd rose trem (i know..crap trem) humbucker in bridge and single coil in mid and neck. three knobs, no pickguard and, input jack is mounted on heel of the body. neded little t.l.c. and he needed money so, i gave him 2 hundred bux for it. i played around on it for awhile then, one day the high e string snapped while i was bending up on it. no biggie so, i changed strings to new set of d'addrio 10's. about a month or 2 ago i stripped guitar down and went thru everything. shimmed the neck, made sure bridge/trem was working with no binds, e.t.c... intonation, and it came out great. i played it often without using trem bar (dont usually use them anyway) Anyway, few nights ago i had her out and was playing when i put the trem bar on and did some tremming. light then little heavy and, couple dive bombs to see how much it returns to pitch. it did but, little fine tuning needed. i took trem bar back off and was holding guitar in play position while looking at computer screen without my hand on fretboard when the hi e string snapped again, on its own without me even touching it. it snapped at ball end and, from looking at end of string i can still see the wraps on it but, ball is gone. anybody had this problem before?

Can you show us some pictures on the tremolo/bridge area?

It sounds like you may have a sharp edge of a burr somewhere cutting the string.
