Hey guys, I'm new here. I have never played a chord in my life, but now that Rock Band is getting a real Squier I am considering getting a guitar and taking lessons while playing Rock Band. Some news I haven't seen any posts about, Best Buy is accepting pre-orders for the Squier on December 17, and is suppossed to be available before the previously announced March 1st. So now for the questions, I have two. I see a lot of posts saying that the MSRP isn't usually the street price for the guitar, so will Best Buy have it listed at $280, or does that vary? Last question, is this guitar going to be worth the $280+$30 for the adapter?

The guitar will street for between $179-$199. Worth is in the eye of the beholder. If it works as a midi guitar alone (big stretch), it'll be way worth it. As a learning tool, I wouldn't give a plug nickel for using Rock Band as a LEARNING tool. Many other actual teaching programs around that actual teach you to play correctly.

Thanks for the reply, I plan on taking lessons at a local guitar shop as well. Just found out for those who are wondering, Best Buy will be the exclusive seller of the guitar, preorders start tomorrow December 15th instead of the 17th like I previously said.

Good idea about the teacher. For learning, the G-DEC 3 series from Fender can't be beat for playing to great backing tracks and learning parts from existing tracks.
